DO they still exist? I know just about everyone has their pet AR they are so proud of they post bumper stickers saying "I love my AR more than my HONOR STUDENT", but where is the love for more traditional rifles among today's varmint hunters? Please post pics or some words about your predator rifles...whether it is a custom tackdriver or an old truck gun that has seen decades of seasons.

I've got a Remington 700 adl 22-250 that has more kills than my rock river Ar and remiington 700 sps tactical 308 combined. All just depends on your preference ad what you want to tote in. IMO all 3 guns see action in field for me just happens I've had better luck with a gun older than I am.

I just set my dad up with a Ruger 77 Compact in .223, stainless with a laminate stock and a 3-9X VXI. He wanted something easy to carry in the pickup and while putting out hay. So far he really likes it.

I have two main predator rifles, both remington 700's. One is a 22" barreled 243 and he other is a 25-06. These are the rifles I take when I am wanting to just make body counts. Rough on fur but danged effective. I am usually found with my 243 on my shoulder but out west when the shots were likely to be long or the wind was high the 25 with an 85 grain BT was deadly.
I went through the AR phase, killed lots of stuff but was never satisfied. It shot wonderful, but the caliber was too light for serious work, and the balance never really fit me. So it went away
America is at that awkward stage. It's too late to work within the system, but too early to shoot the bastards. Claire Wolfe

i have the AR but we also take along a old Universal M1 that my dad gave me. not a long range shooter but when it finds it mark then it gets the job done. i guess it is kind of a pre-AR gun.

Depends on the mood hut a Marlin 1894 16inch barrel stainless in 357 is almost always handy when out on the placed. Because it is there all the time there are numerous hogs and yotes that wish it wasn't so handy. On the rare trips it is not along the Rockola 30 Carbine is in the normal handy location in the truck
Favorite yote and such gun is a Remington 700 Classic in 17 Remington.

I usually take my Howa model 1500 22-250 just as effective as my AR...

Most of my kills come from a plain wood stocked savage 110 in .243. I sold a ruger mkII ultralight I wish I could have back

While I will admit to owning quite a few AR's setup for predator hunting I still carry the bolt guns quite often. Two weeks ago I used the Savage Predator .223 I bought a Ruger No. 1 .204 last week and got it bloody the first day. Here was a good night with the CZ.221 FB

I got a browning 22lr lever action that has killed more hogs coyotes bobcats an other critters than I can even remember , it's an old faithful that is easy to carry easy to shoot an will work wonderfully on hog or squirrel just the same , I also like my marlin 22 magnum bolt action , I have killed Dall , black hawians coyotes bobcats an hogs with it an I like it pretty good just wish it had a wood stock I'm not so fond of all this plastic stuff I like wood stocks

I have 204 CZ527 that works very well and is usually my go to rifle. Every now and then I also take out my ruger M77 compact 16" barrel 243.

I personally hate the ar platform. I have tried stew diffrent setups, and can't get comfortable with one. Really can't seem to get a sight picture in a hurry with one. That being said I bought a new varmit rifle. It's a Savage model 25 in .223. Rifle loves anything I feed it. So far I haven't got a shot at a yote, but did get a pig with it.

Not to change the subject but that's one monster coon front left in that last pic. I have an AR and several bolt guns but I tend to grab my Encore or Contender when going hunting. 223, 204, 243, like shooting them all.

i bought a rem 7 22-250 bolt action with scope and 100 rounds of ammo because it was cheap. since then i have worked up several loads changed the scope and wrapped the stainless stock in camo. i shoot the wc-844 ball powder which costs me 9.00 a pound and bulk buy on v-max bullets.224 i shoot for free and the gun will knock flat at 400 yds. wouldn't have an AR shot one in nam had my fill of it just my opinion.
