Flint and I drove up on an unusually large herd of hogs numbering well over 60. They were split into two groups, but unfortunately the group with smaller hogs blocked our approach to the bigger ones. We even had to sneak past one large boar to get into position to maximize the death toll, but that wouldn't be the last we saw of him!



We felt comfortable at about 100 yards from the closest pigs. We've been through the countdown enough times that the first shots executed flawlessly. After that, it's a free for all. Thundering hooves couldn't quiet the thumps and squeals that filled the air.



The hogs’ confusion creates a sense of urgency in your mind; an urgency to acquire the next target as quickly as possible yet remain alert to possible threats... like the big boar we snuck past that was somewhere behind us.



Then a hog like the giant spotted one runs into your field of view and nothing else matters at that moment. Flint and I both hammered him until that "one in a million" shot sent him somersaulting head over hooves 3 TIMES!!! We yelled war cries in celebration, albeit a bit too soon. The black boar raced past us and was quickly getting away while we regrouped for more shooting. Although I could still see him, my first shot was in desperation. It was, however, close enough to make him change directions. My second shot smacked him right behind the ear at 248 measured paces. That may very well be the best shot I've ever made with a 4 power scope at night!

Yea i'm a little behind schedule. I killed 52 in Jan 2011, but only 17 in Jan 2012. I know people say you can hunt them out, but this farmer says he's tried hunters, fences, trappers and helicopters, but I'm the only one who's taken care of the problem. Another farmer didn't even put up a hot wire around his peanuts this year. I got 7 off that farm and never saw another one. Sad times ahead for hog hunting in my area, but I can't seem to bring myself to practice hog conservation. When I see them I go nuts and kill, kill kill.

They are near a hog sanctuary. Survivors found each other during my time off for deer season and banded together. Don't worry though, they're all going to die.
