We cannot use a hanging feeder. The last tripod got knocked over by hogs and messed up. I have never purchased a feeder before but want a cage for raccoons, solar panel for charging, reasonably easy to fill, trows feed out on a timer, and is durable. I do not mind spending some coin on this as we want it to be used year round and for it to last. I shopped at Bass pro shops and Cabelas but can not get comfortable with the products without reviews. The product that I end up buying on reccomendation will get a weekend guest pass at lease for hog hunting

All Season 1k or 500lb heavy duty corn feeder.
4 legs, unit, varmint cage and timer, all included.
in the event it did get knocked over, its not going to break.
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

I recommend Monarch feeders. They build them in Arlington at their shop and they are solid. 1000 lb feeder, 4 legs with a ladder and platform, varmint cage, solar panel built in to the timer box. I have had nothing but great things to say about mine. Call Rusty there and see what kind of cash deal he will cut you. He is a great guy to deal with.

Put up a feed pen and use whatever feeder you want to.

500-550lb depending on corn size think it cost me about 550.
It's pretty much bullet proof. Built like a tank and easy to move when empty

I second the Monarch suggestion. If your looking for something that's high quality, coon proof, and will last for many years then monarch is the way to go. We have five feeders going on my dads place, where I hunt, and one of them is a Monarch. It's the only one that we have never had to repair and it has worked flawlessly.

Ontime is all I will buy (I personally use the solar eletes). They are very dependable and they will rebuild a damaged one for next to nothing. Example...One of mine got destroyed by coons. The solar pannel was ripped off, the "board" was destroyed, and motor seemed damaged. $30 plus $15 for shipping and they returned it with new pannel, motor, board, and battery. All that was original was the aluminum case. That is hard to beat.

i personally use tripods just make sure they have some height and width from leg to leg. also if you have a hog problem drive t post next to the legs and wire them up. i prefer the crank ones as well that way you dont have to have a ladder or stand on the bed of your truck monarch makes a good crank tripod

Capsule, hands down. Very easy to fill. The only problem we had was we tried to mix corn and protein. 4 out of the 6 would not throw corn due to the grinding of the protein pellets, but the other 2 worked great. We found out if your going to throw protein there is an adjustment to raise the auger. We ended up dumping them and filled them with corn. Have not had a problem since. So far the coons have not been able to figure out how to climb them.

you mention you don't want a hanging feeder, but I bet you have never owned a Hang em High. If you want a corn feeder that is off the ground this is the best....period! www.hangemhighfeeders.comwatch the videos on the website

You can put pretty much any feeder up you want as long as you set it up right. I have 3 different variations of tripod feeders and one that sits on 4 legs you fill off a ladder. I have yet to have a feeder knocked over by hogs or cattle. Stake it down.
It's hell eatin em live

The old timer or capsule feeders are both economically and phyically the best ways to go. First, the are low to the ground so ladders or tailgates arent needed. It is alot eaier to pour down than to lift. And much safe. Also the low center of gravity will dramatically reduce the risk of tipping. You will probably want to put a pen to control hogs under your feeder especially if feeding year round due to them scaring off your deer. Aldo the come in large enough sizes where you will only have to fill them a few times per year based on how much you feed. Also they will both dispense corn and pelleted protien rations. Both have varmint proof mechanisms standard and solar panels. The capsules are a bit more expensive but they do eliminate waste due to gravity. And like a 20 year warranty ( thats hard to beat)

Thanks for the great advise, I am going with Monarch since they have a warehouse less than an hour from my house Start looking for other varmit cages, theirs are no good, we have two on my lease 1k lb version. Get the 12v not the 6v Also their protien attachment is a pretty good price.
