The walk is stupid far. 2 Fridays ago we walked about as far as you can walk out there. Now that it's gonna be muddy there's no way. That's why I enlisted the help of a buddy with a boat for this saturday.
I have only seen 2 geese on the lake all year but my neighbors pond always has some. I think they are residents but I wish I could have killed one before the season ends.

How far one way (time)? 10 minutes is short for me. 30 minutes is a hike, I got few places I go to that is about 45 minutes walk (one way).

No way I walk that far just to have a boat motor up with some fat barney in it. 1 hr one way is a long walk, but if there is green I would make the walk. Maybe you should camp and split the walk up over 2 days.

I'm in the army so obviously I run a lot and I'm fit. To simply walk 4 miles is nothing . If it was just walking on easy terrain I could go 8-10mi. But humping a large Avery big mouth decoy bag completely full of life size GHG pro grades with 4 oz J weights kinda makes ya think twice about 1 mile. I try to bring 3-4 buddies along and I weigh them down with the same. Sometimes they are not as fit so an hour turns into an 1.5hrs. It's funny the lengths we will go to.

Hunting is worth the trip if that is what you like. I, at one time in my life I road a bicycle 5-6 mile to bow hunt and then packed them out but lets hope next year you wont have to go so far

Stupid far is about right.
Doing that hike in waders can wear you out and give you blisters.
You have to make a wide arc to avoid the mud which is thigh deep in places and even where is is firm it adds weight to your boots.
I've done it with a dozen deeks, layout blind, gun and backpack of shells and water and it was not fun.
Not going to even try it after that rain.

Ya'll are all nuts. I'm going to Treebass' house and shoot off of his neighbors tank. I'll get Treebass to drop me off in the fancy truck he bought. Provided, I can convince him to let it get dirty.

Regular waders not the right gear. Cabalas Jean waders, with lace-up boots.
