Little Rant guys.

Me and a buddy went out for my final hunt of the year this past weekend. Decided to go down to East Matagorda Bay for the first time all year. Show up, set up, all is good birds are flying.

Well then it gets slow so i began to walk around in the marsh to try and jump shoot some birds. Well then i stumbled across something that is just so sad i wish i could of met the P.O.S. hunters and have a word with them.

I located 7 empty shell boxes, all in the edge of the water along with, seemed like over 150 spent shells, along about 25 yards of shore line.

I wish there was a way to be able to find out who did this. So me and my buddy spent the next 20-25 minutes of our hunt to pick up some other D.B. trash.

Clean up your Sh!t when you are finished hunting.

There are sucky people everywhere in this world. Good that you picked them up.

I hunted there recently east and west bay, we saw similar garage dump blinds. Its understandable if you see one or two rusted hulls on the ground that someone missed but boxes and trash...makes us look bad. How many redheads you shoot? That all that was coming in for us, dumbest bird I swear. They need to raise the limit ! haha.

You did good by cleaning up.

It was just me and my buddy so we limited out on the first group of Redheads that came in. Finished with 4 redheads and 1 Bufflehead hen.

Oh and one more thing that got to me...

Around the same spot we found the shells we located about 4-5 red heads that had been there a few days. Plus one that a hawk was actively working on.

So not only do they trash the place they just shoot whatever they want and either don't try to find it or were over their limit and didn't want to find them.

I was east matti last week and didn't hear a shot all 3 days. Were you on the east end of east bay or the west end?

Went straight south to Boiler Bayou.

I shot my first bufflehead on this hunt. Are they all that tiny?

It was in between the size of a dove and a greenwing teal.

Yes they are small, and fly fast

Well when you shoot a duck that hatched yesterday do you really expect it to be big?

I've seen the same thing on some of the spoil islands on the Upper Laguna around Corpus. Last week I saw an area with about 150 spent shells and 2 dozen filleted redhead carcasses neatly stacked in a pile.

I sure wish the game wardens would patrol this area a little better.

It's everywhere. My brother and I went to lake Palestine recently and stumbled on the same thing. We also found a camo leash tied to a tree, and a full box of 3" shells unopened. So I guess we won a little.

I'm pretty sure those were the shells Garrett was shooting last weekend. I'm glad you found his redhead. To late to mount it you think?

yah, garrett would probably try and do a shoulder mount on that bird. the red head is all that matters right?

i have seen a pretty cool european mount of a spoonie before..

Is this something that should be reported to the wildlife management office/refuge management or game warden?
