wanting to get away from pumps and semi auto's. so i found a prett good o/u but its got 26 inch barrel's.... is this suitable for duck hunting? I was thinking maybe some ext chokes and some black cloud or hypersonic? would take place of the 2 inches... let me hear some thoughts.....

26" barrel is perfect for ducks over decoys and also great for doves and quail.

26 in. o/u is very short. It would be closer in overall length to a 22 in. pump/auto. That's comparing my 30 in. o/u to my 26 in. auto with both guns having ext. chokes.
It's all what you get use to, but i would think it would not be an ideal pass shooting gun.

Barrel length has nothing to do with shot distance, longer barrel gives you a longer sight plain.

I prefer 28" in 12 gauge semi or pump, I am not sure what my preference would be for a double gun.

Is it duck season yet?

A longer barrel (longer sight plain) results in less perceived lead. This is generally better for longer crossing and going away shots. Not so important for ducks. I shoot a 28-30 inch for ducks and a 30-32 barrel for doves. A used 26 barrel gun should trade at a discount as they are not as popular as 28 inch and above barrel lengths.
