A couple of months back pictures of this deer appeared in a post here and there were a lot of folks that thought it was photo shopped and the deer was not real. I got an email yesterday with a couple of new photos that should end the argument. Here is the text that was on the email and the three pics that were attached. "Some guys went on a deer capture in Uvalde county about 2 weeks ago and netted this deer, Heart Attack. He scored 248. He has 21 points, an inside spread of 32 ˝ inches and an outside spread of 34 ˝ inches. He is only 4 years old. If you hunt, that means something to you. If you dont, this will. They put a price tag on him of 1 million dollars. Enjoy the photos. There is 1 of him in velvet and the others are once they had him captured."    WHAT A TRULY INCREDIBLE ANIMAL!!!

Still wonder about what, if he's real or not??? This deer is also in a picture (advertisement) in the latest TTH magazine.

thats a nice deer.
although even if he scored over 400b&c i would not pay a million bucks for him. that kind of price for a deer is ridiculious.
his 'baby gravey' probably cost more than i could afford.

It's all relative. Many of us would not hesitate to spend $800+ on a rifle/scope, $20/box for ammo, $1,000 for a lease etc. To a homeless guy living in a cardboard box under a bridge that can't afford his medication, that's ridiculous.
On the other hand if I'm somebody like Mark Cuban that's a billionaire, maybe $1M for a deer isn't so ridiculous.

I'll bet he scored over 248, too. It's funny how the description says he's only 4, when most of the discussions here say shoot the 4 1/2 year olds.

You are exactly right. Another thing, with the market the way it is today on Whitetails, I'd imagine that as long as the deer lived a couple of years his offspring and go go juice would way more then pay back the cool mil!

Most of the very aggressively managed ranches do not harvest their trophy animals until they are 6.5+. They will harvest inferior deer to their program at ages of 4.5 and under but not genetically superior deer in the herd.

Interesting pictures of a freak of nature.
In my opinion, that is what that animal is, a freak.
Yes, genetics have something to do with that animals rack, but so does the feeding program he is on.
I just really don't see anything impressive about artificially grown sets of antlers.

i just think that if i had 1 million to spend on hunting, it would not be for a single whitetail.
i'd chase elephant, cape buffalo, and jaguars all across the african bush. heck, i'd go shoot a trophy elk or caribu....JMO.

I was told something about the whole whitetail breeding operations and I dont know if this is a hundred percent true or not. A guy told me that when these monsters bucks are in velvet the breeders get ice picks and some how make holes in there horns that make them produce a point where they pick a hole in the main beam. Again I dont know if there is any truth in this or not, just somehting I was told.

I can remember pics and video of heart attack years ago. There were pics in TTH magazine about 8 years ago of heart attack on the tecomate ranch.

chc, I do agree with you when it comes to the penned deer that have absolutely no choice on what they have for breakfast, lunch, and supper. However, if you can grow a big deer like this one on a ranch, whether high or low fence, even if you are on a feeding program, then it's a different story.

Good question. I was going to suggest that maybe he ripped it out but I don't see any kind of tear in his ear. I'm guessing that maybe they took it off of him. In the first pictures this year of him there were a whole bunch of ladies around him which lead me to believe that he was probably in a DMP (deer management pen). If he is in a DMP then the only reason I would guess they 'captured' him inside the pen this time with a helicopter was to maybe draw some straws to sell??? I'm not sure about all the legalities but I do not believe a buck put in a DMP with a bunch of senoritas is not required to be tagged like a breeder buck in captive pens.
Really good question! Sure hope they are doing everything correctly or the state might have something to say with what happens to that monster!

Man, with the crazy money these deer are bringing I'd not doubt anything. I hope that kind of crap isn't happening but I certainly wouldn't doubt it.

The problem as I see it however, is on a low fence area, unless it is intensively managed and excellent predator control programs are in effect, how can anyone guarantee, let alone say that an animal like that would live long enough to grow that big.
Besides that, how long was the Jordan Buck the world record????
