I have a 14' x 4' jon boat that will be holding 2 people while hunting. What kind of mud motor can I expect to find for around $1000?

I have a Beavertail frame with a stainless prop you can have for 250. Then all you need is another 400 to 500 for a small engine and a throttle. You will be in business for less than a grand. PM if interested.

I got a friend of mine who has a 8 hp long tail that runs good for 500 let me know and I can get you his info. It's located in the Texarkana area.

How fast would an 8 hp push a 14' boat? Very slow.. I had an 11hp on my 14ft and it was slow.

Very slow. A friend of mine has a 13 HP Honda pushing his mud motor (8 foot shaft). It moves the boat well but not fast.

Bought a 23hp longtail for $1100. Just keep looking around. Don't be scared to look at older engines. These motors are cake to work on and fix. Good luck
