Robert; I don't know you from adam but would like to offer my opinion.
As a "mature" business owner myself and an avid hunter I can relate to both sides of this discussion.
As a business owner I face the challenge and frustration of my customers price shopping all the time. They always seem to think they can buy it some where else cheaper or are never comparing apples to apples. Either the product is different or the service or the quality is not the same....hisses me off and I too get pretty emotional sometimes and rant and rave. Then I usually calm down and my business mind eventually takes over. Even though I don't like the situation I figure out a way to make the best economic decision I can.
As a hunter I can not blame anyone for trying to get the best deal they can. Your view and value of that animal is based on the blood, sweat and feed cost you have put into them but the hunters are just consumers looking for the best "deal" possible. And as someone else pointed out, it maybe the only way some folks will ever get to hunt one of these trophy animals.
I do agree with BMD, it is obvious you are not happy with the stupid new government regulations but you need to get over it and not display it to your customers....for what it is worth coming from a concerned fellow THF member

I see people lowering scimitar price's allot then some one is still trying to get a better deal. That's what I am saying.

Dude let it go, you are fighting a losing battle, this is what I am telling you

Yeah me too. I am sorry for the lost investvents of all the ranchers that are going to loose money on thier animals , I do not agree with what is happening, but I have to say, Robert I'm sure you got some of your animals at a great price weather at auction or through friends, then turned around and sold them at premium prices and made a great profit, I haven't heard you come on here and stand up for a guy who over paid on some of your hunts. Now there is an opportunity for hunters to get an animal at a good price and you are acting like we are trying rip you off. It is what it is, an opportunity for some people to get an animal at a great price and for you to sell an animal to someone before you have to " eat it " .

100,000K in DONATED hunts sounds like a great tax break to me. Don’t get me wrong I think it a great thing you’re doing offering hunts for wounded soldiers who serve this country so we can be free but don’t brag about it like your all high and mighty for doing that. If your family has been in the business since the 1930 than you should have a large outfit going. A lot of the smaller outfits I’m sure would love to do something like that but they can’t due to shear size and number of animals. Don’t hate the working class that is trying to find the best deal, not all of us are large ranch owners with a ranch our parents gave to us!
PS you can’t come up with a more tactful way of saying people are trying to “Jew” you down, it really makes you look like a big racist, not good for business!

@Robert Stuart...Really????????????????Do you know anything about Economics......

In this economy I want a STEAL price not a deal price.

My family just sold a $2 million jet for $201,000...did we whine...no we doubled our investment....

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/DASSAULT-...#ht_1731wt_1165

My partner just bought a $1.8 million home for $585,000.

Donald Trumps firm just bought a $250,000,000 piece of property for $6 million almost 95% off retail.

There is excess of everything is this economy and it is driving prices way down. If you have money you expect a STEAL Price!!!!!

Excess supply of Addax is no different and I am getting quoted Steal prices. On April 5th are you still going to give me the deal price...no Addax will probably cost $10,000 not $1500.

Thanks

@Robert Stuart

My post meant no personal attack towards you. I hunt with Guides on this forum a couple times a year and I gladly pay Market pricing. Looking forward to hunting with you someday!

how about a group hug? man guys I switched over from TX bowhunter because it seemed like everyone over there was alway bickering. let's just all take a step back put some pride aside and move on.
All agree that this new law sucks period. I have folks continually ask me for better pricing and I always reply that our pricing is priced accordingly to the type of hunt and class of animal anyone would want.I have numerous times referred them to other outfitters that I know are cheaper. After all I am a hunter at heart and just want to do what I personally can to get someone hooked up with an outfitter that will treat them right and be within their budgets if I'm not able to do so. I can see how it might be a slap in the face to some but I don't take it personal because I would be doing the same thing if the situation were flipped.
Robert, I think a lot of people are correct on some of their statements. You can't blame them for the governments decision. As an outfitter I understand your complaints, but it's something we all deal with on a daily basis as outfitter's on folks wanting the best deal.

There's always exceptions to the rule, especially given general current economic conditions. That said, with all due respect, the exotic hunting market does not & can't sustain large price differentials on similar quality animals just for the hell of it. The differential is then based upon total cost(service level, anmenities, etc), not animal value alone. It's not greed I can assure you.

On this point I can appreciate your frustration Robert. If a man can't keep his word on terms agreed upon in advance, he can expect to be escorted off my ranch & pursue his hunting opportunities elsewhere.

Just my POV....but being that this rule is coming down right after Christmas, at the end of hunting season, and when a lot of hunters are saving up for the new lease, it only makes sense that some are looking for a deal that they can AFFORD right now.

I can afford a $1,500.00 Oryx but I have to put off some things, so if I can save a little that helps a bunch. But Robert if you can assure me a chance to take a mid 30's or better Oryx for $1500.00 PM me asap.
