CVA makes a great starter kit. If you plan on staying with blackpowder and have the funds.. I would get a TC yes a little more money but think you will be happier. Myself I shoot Knight 50 Cal Disc. Blackpowder is trial and error. Meaning you have to do your homework with loads and bullets. Got any questions don't be afraid to ask us guys we will glad to help.

There are alot of options out there. I have a hawken 50 cal and a CVA 50 cal. I hunt in texas and colorado. I shoot open sites and use pyrodex rs select and powerbelts. Its just how much you want to spend and how you want to trick out your toy.

T/C muzzleloaders by all means! May not be the most exspensive, but there be few better. whether it's a treditional or modern inline.

look at the savage 10 (i have the BP-10, supposed to be BP only), shoots both BP and smokeless. I can shoot comfortably out to 250 yards with mine.
It's not skybusting, if you make the shot.

Andrew, I've hunted with BP for many years. I'm fortunate to have upgraded to an Austin and Halleck 50 cal a few years ago...a top-of-the-line modern muzzleloader. I'm cutting back on my activities and would now sell this rifle...scoped (Leupold VariX III 1.75-6) and with ALL the extras that one needs. This has a weather-proof matt-nickle-finished barrel with a synthetic stock (and a new fancy wood stock that goes with it). See a review at http://www.chuckhawks.com/austin_halleck420.htmDoes this interest you?

This is my dream gun one day. I have a CVS 50CAL.& a TK2000 for Turkey. One day I will have an Austin.
