I found out on Wednesday that a friend's cousin was coming into town for the weekend and wanted to do some hunting. John is from North Dakota and does a lot of pheasant and waterfowl hunting, but hadn't ever shot quail or chukar.

I got in touch with DoubleB20 and fortunately he had Saturday afternoon available. The afternoon cooled off nicely and made for some good hunting weather.

John was shooting a Weatherby 28 gauge and was shooting it very well. I shot my old pre-war Browning Superposed.

We managed to get all our birds plus a few extras that were left over from some earlier hunts. The quail flew very well, almost like the wild quail I shot in Kansas in November.

The real treat was the dog work, some of the best I have seen. The three dogs all working together is quite a show.

Cass

WOW!

Quail hunting is like walking into, and out of a beautiful painting all day long. Gene Hill

Not trying to hijack your thread, awesome hunt. I also just wanted to mention that I had some questions this weekend about vizlas and wrote him a message and he gave me his number and went out of his way answer all of my questions. He was a real nice guy and im sure the hunt was great.

He's a gracious host with some exceptional dogs.
Looks like some excellent shooting from both of you..

My daughters first upland hunt was with DoubleB20.
That was a mistake on my part.
Now when I try to get her to go shoot dove or ducks with us she may go once or twice.
Then she tells me " I like upland better."

Shopping with your husband is like hunting with the game warden.
Experience is what you get, when you didn't get what you wanted.
