just make sure the bullet is designed for deer, not varmints.

I just started using .243..been using 7mag for years
Anyway I shot a big doe with the .243
She was facing me 75 yards
Only shot I had was a chest shot
It went in left side of chest
And stopped in the ribcage on left side
Went 50 yards and crashed
The round was Winchester 85 gr silvertip

I always use Federal Premium Vital Shock with 100gr Sierra Gameking BTSP on mine with all deer falling on their tracks and of course good shot placement. As a meat hunter this bullet will leaves a nice clean little hole and does not bruise the meat too much.

Im going to try Barns TSX or Hornady GMX copper bullets to see how they work. I feel sure they will work better.

Any round designed for deer will work well for. .. deer.

.243 Win is a great round. It has plenty of power. Deer aren't that hard to kill. Just get them in the boiler room, and they'll die quickly.

I prefer the Winchester Power Points but pretty much the same, cheap and reliable. I have never lost a deer, my biggest is an 8-point.

I use the 90gr Nosler Ballistic Tip. 10 less grains allow a little more velocity. Works great!

Federal 100 grain Nosler Partitions.

That's what my daughter used on hogs and deer before 7mm-08. Never tried any others.

To be determined

I really like the TSX bullet Barnes puts out. I tried the Barnes ammo in their 80 TTSX but,for me the Federal TSX 85 gr groups the best.

I use 100gr in reloads. A hunting partner uses factory 85gr.

Haven't had and deer walk off after being hit by them.

Besides reliable performance, I like knowing that I can walk into just about any hardware or sporting goods store and find my ammo. So I use Remington 100 gr. Corelokt.
