Your spread of decoys in the later part of the season?
It seems like I was trying to work singles and doubles in this week and was having a hard time getting them to commit. I know they get call shy later on but what seems to be more successful; more or less?

Try both get rid of the mojo if you got one and use one or two jerk cords

That's my plan for tomorrow. Three inflatable gadwalls in the backpack on a jerk rig. I love packing light, makes me feel like walking on the beach or riding a horse.

I stick with a dozen, but put 7 30 yards to my right and the rest 10 yards to my left with a single jerk cord in the middle of the 10 yard set up. Worked great last weekend. Gonna try it again tomorrow.

Guess it depends on what type of hole your hunting too...i wont go in the timber without a mojo and big water hunting too..the remote mojos are great for catchin the birds eye then can shut it off when they start workin.as far as deeks go you cant go wrong with a jerk cord rig and another dozen deeks... on big water i always put every deek i have but make the spread real patchy or spread out...no matter what time durrin season i barely put a half dozen

We've had to trim down. Last weekend we had to pull all the decoys with the exception of teal and pintail from the water to get the ducks to come in. Pitched the mojo and used a jerk line. Put goose floater in other open spot across the pond to stop the pintails from landing there.
It worked last weekend but this weekend maybe a different story.
Shopping with your husband is like hunting with the game warden. Experience is what you get, when you didn't get what you wanted.

Well I normally cut down on the deeks and get rid of the mojo but this year we have a spot that is holding lots of birds and seems like they are more apt to come land with the larger group sooo we are putting out 5 pulsating duck butts, 100 plus decoys a jerk rig, possibly a mojo and a couple dozen full bodies. To be honest, I'm not sure it makes a difference one way or the other in this spot but it's fun to use all your stuff every once in a while.

I too have been going with the "less is more" come late season. Jerk line has really been working well for me this year.

Used 4 mallards and two teal last weekend. Worked well. I very seldom use a large spread.

Smaller spread, sometimes with and sometimes without mojo depending on weather conditions. I am more inclined to make adjustments first time ducks flare in late season.
