Going for geese next weekend banana in the panhandle. Any advice would help, y'all probably know from my earlier posts that I just started duck hunting. With everyone's help my duck hunts have been successful. What dekes would work in a pinch for Canadians and snows,I assume dekes are a must for geese?

You're going to want a lot of decoys probably. Best bet is to hook up with other people that have goose decoys and have done it before. Then you can learn a little.

That could be a problem I don't know many people that target geese.

Today we put out 15 dozen full bodies plus 40 dozen silhouttes. Not to mention all the bells and whistles that go with it... If you are hunting birds that have been hunted much you either need a big spread or if just a few guys I think a spread of 12 full bodies would work. I just would not have the balls with a paying group to do that.....But I think a small spread would work

Go to a sporting goods store and buy all the shells you can afford. Might have time to order some other type.

Unlike duck hunting where you can pretty much be set with a couple dozen decoys it's hard just to say "hey I think I'll go goose hunting". It's been said already that you need a lot of decoys. I'm no goose master...probably been on 25 goose hunts in my life and probably 15 were guided and the others were with people that had all the decoys.

It's pretty typical to put out between 500 and 1000 decoys so it's not a bad idea to get a decent sized group together from 5 to 8 people.

I'd suggest either going on a guided hunt or inviting someone from the forum that has all the decoys needed.

As for shells...I like to use 3.5" shells but 3" will do the trick. #2 to BBB. I normally use #1s or BBs for goose hunting.

Sunday I'm leaving on a hunting road trip through OK and KS that includes Goose hunting. I should be finishing up Goose hunting near Meade KS a ways north of you on Friday and picking up camp to move on down the road. I will have about 12 dozen mixed goose decoys with me. I was going to be looking for upland birds deeper into KS from there, but when it is just Blaze and me, I never really know where I might light each night.

I havent been out there in the past few weeks but when i left for break there were a bunch of birds in that area. This has been a really good year if you can get access to the fields that the birds use

For Snows we use around 500 decoys silhouttes full bodys and rags.

White trash bags have worked from me in the past(when i was younger) born and raised in Dumas,TX pstt.. dont tell anyone lol but just as cheap to buy Texas rags now 100 for 20$ hope this helps.

Thanks fellas gonna do what I can. Taking all the decoys I can get my hands on,it may not work but we will see what happens. Some of my favorite hunts started this way, just go and play it by ear.
