Hey All,

I just received a Wingmaster 870 from my grandfather in law for Christmas. He received the gun 33 years ago from his firefighter buddies when he retired. He told me it had only been shot once.

I was told to use it and to not just put it in the safe and keep it there. So my question is does anyone know if i can shoot steal through it without any problems? I know when the gun was made that the only thing really used was lead. So i just want to make sure before i try it.

Thanks for any help!

Should be fine, if full choke I would probally go with bismuth not steel.

In the early to mid 80s hunted a federal wildlife refuge, draw and standby hunts where steel shot was required before it was the law for everywhere else. 870s were pretty much the most populsr guns used.

A different option would be to use your gun but pick up another barrel with replacement chokes and not worry about it and have the virsitility of multiple chokes.
