Lets keep this simple and I think it could help a few folks looking to see averages around the State. Don't need any responses with "depends on how many hunters, water, terrain, etc..,etc...,etc..." Just respond with your County, Acreage and cost per acre.

I'm looking for a new lease... but... Right now I'm paying $100 per acre. 10 acres, cabin, but laid out magnificently and has deer coming through all the time.

Not to be a smarta$$, but...
I think yall's math is a little off. Per Big10's calculations...$3.30 per acre would be $8250 for 2500 acres.
The proper equation that should be used is: Cost of Lease / Acres = Cost per Acre
Thus, Big10's Cost per Acre would be $0.30.
As for mine:
Eastland County 2300 Acres $750 for the lease $0.33 per acre

You need to take the total acreage and divide by the number of hunters to come up with allotted acres PER HUNTER and then divide what each hunter pays by THAT number.
Example for Big10: 2500/8 = 312 acres PER HUNTER; $750/312 = $2.40 per acre

We've had our lease since 1961. I'm not one of the original lessors. There's still 1 remaining but most of the others are either sons of the originals or have been on it 20+ years. We don't have it year round. In fact, we don't even have it for the whole deer season but nobody else hunts it besides us. It's all just a handshake agreement that started with an old maid that owned it and has been honored by her heir. The only way anybody gets on this lease is if one of us dies and then the new guy has to be voted in after a couple of trips as a paying guest (filling the empty slot).

Kendall county $2.05/acre 4 guns 680 acres 350/gun Been hunting the place for 17 years now, and like primitive hunter it is all done by a handshake. The only reason it is that cheap is because the old land lady that owns the place has known us for 20 years and trusts us, pluss we help her out.
