I took some pics today of how I set up the snares I make. There were some people wanting them, so here they are. My place is surrounded by net wire fencing. I drive around until I find where the varmints are digging under. I usually place a rock on either side of the hole to force them to use the 8" or so hole under the fence. Once this is done, I tie the swivel to the fence/barb wire that lies under the fence with a piece of doubled over baling wire I then make the loop size I want and take another piece of baling wire and wrap it around the fence and on the snare behind the cam lock(anchor side) I then cut a piece of wire about 1.5" long and make a "barbie" pen out of it. I take the barbie pen and clip it through the bottom stand of wire and then onto the snare loop. This helps keep the snare in position And the final result I sell them for $33/ dozen shipped.
If you shoot a young deer because a neighbor will shoot it, you are that neighbor.

It would be hard for a deer to go through a hole this size. Some people use a "deer stop" on their snares. I don't know how it works though. The only things I have caught are coyotes, coons, gray foxes, skunks,a few pigs, one bobcat and one turkey. I hated to see the turkey in the snare, but with all the varmints I catch, there will be a greater chance for other turkey to survive including their nests/eggs.

those are some big slides... Girlfriend's dad sets his snares the same way whenever he is in the lambing season. He has caught 2 yotes so far and lots of coons and quill pigs... No cats yet.
Life is too short to drink cheap booze and argue with stupid people!

The deer stop will only work if leg snaring. The stop keeps the snare from tightening all the way around a deer leg.
Deer stop wont work for a head snare. It will snare a deer. But agree a deer will go over, not under the fence
