Ok so a buddy and I went to Cinamon Creek today for the first time and we are both noobs at bow shooting. Shot the ZOO this time and loved it.

My question is, is it common to bend and break a bunch of arrows? I think I bent 4 arrows and he bent 3. Yeah I know they are aluminum (went cheap until we figure out what we are doing)but how much bend is allowed or are they trash now? We didn't shoot them after we noticed a bend in the shaft. Is it common for them to bend when they hit the 3D targets? We only had 2 complete target misses and it bent the crap out of them but it seemed like 4 were from the 3D targets or maybe the way I was pulling them out.

Any advise is appreciated.

It's almost 2012 no more aluminum arrows allowed. I'm sure stiff targets got your arrows. Might try lube if you bent them pulling. Any bend at all I wouldn't shoot them.

I'm sure not trying to be cute, but I think it's time to get some carbon arrows, and you won't have that problem anymore.

Not sure what your setups are bow and poundage wise but, with todays bows alluminum doesnt hold up well if you miss and in some targets. As the 2 experienced guys said above, you can get cheap carbon arrows and you wont have any problems..

Thanks for the input guys. I will get rid of my aluminum ones and use carbon from here on out. Anything I need to watch out for with the carbon arrows?

Flex your arrows and hear for cracks before you shoot. I usually check my arrows as I pull them out of the target and put them in my quiver. You can't beat good ol' carbon arrows. If you hear a crack in the carbon arrow don't shoot it.

Don't buy the cheapiest; they are cheap for a reason.

I had a buddy come back once from Academy showing off with the arrows he bought for 32 dollars a dozen... They were some piece of junk that didn't even have a brand on them.

Stick with the brand names. There's a lot of good arrows out there and depending on what I'm going to use them for I buy different arrows. Always the same spine, but different specs.

I got a dozen of Carbon Fury with blazer veins cut and inserts glued for $54 at Bass Pro so far so good
