First off let me say this thread is in suppourt of JJ Kent who was a excellent host and guide for me and my family this weekend. I've seen some hate on a couple of posts previously this week. This originally concerned me as I had never hunted with him before. BUT I could not be happier to tell you those fears were unfounded and to me this accusations against him were false. So heres the run down of the trip and why I enjoyed it so much. We hunted two days with Mr.Kent the first was my gift to my yougner brother for christmas. The 101 class was easily the most educational hunt I've ever been on. You always hear things like "Put these decoys here..." "Put this blind here." That wasn't what impressed me with Mr.Kent. It was more of "This is why we put this blind here.” “These are the advantages of putting this here.” It was informative and straight forward. Day one was our 101 hunt and it had a awesome start! We arrived the day before and helped JJ brush the blind watching as birds broke down and fell in to the hole we would be hunting the following morning. We also stayed at the lodge that JJ offers which was awesome and I’lle be posting photos later in the review. We met JJ at this office he was on time a few minutes early to be exact. So we chatted for a while before eventually making off to the blind. We got there and began to the class. We started off meeting Bo who was also as excited as I was. Then we moved on to putting out the deeks. He explained why he used what species…what size he preferred and the positioning of the decoys. After this we moved on into the blind and began our wait to shooting time. About ten minutes before wing beats broke us out of our conversation. Two nice drake Can’s plow into the decoys and began to swim around. Seconds after a pair of Widgeon hit the water less than ten yards in front of us. Ringers in big wads are buzzing the blind all it all my brother compared it to being on the landing strip of an air port. The grin on his face was a mile wide and we haven’t fired a shot. After what seemed like a eternity LST rolls around and JJ calls the shot on the two widgeon still in front of the blind. We jump the birds and my brother takes his first ever Widgeon a beautiful drake. I k-rolled the hen and sat back to watch Bo due his job. Through the morning we covered various aspects of the hunt ,but we would never get to far before you have something cupped up hovering in your face! My favorite part of the hunt was towards the end. We were taking pictures with Bo when all the sudden Bo looks up and just refuses to look at JJ for the pic. There falling out of the sky were three grey ducks JJ rolled back into the blind and shut the door hitting the call. But not before telling Bo that he had just earned himself a extra biscuit lol! Two of the trio hit the water the third pulled up high and circled around. JJ calls the shot and my brother king of the water swat K’os the hen and shoots the drake in the air who death glides into a Barbed Wire fence. His first ever double…So meanwhile I might have whiffed on the third one I don’t remember well its hazy lol…Anyway we ended the hunt having a great time laughs ran rampant throughout the day. Well we had nothing to do that afternoon so JJ invited us for a little boat ride and some scouting. Never…has a guide asked if we were interested in something like that so it was pretty cool. One spot inparticular involved us jumping about 200 mallards….I had green envy instantly and still do lol. We pulled out pretty quick as JJ had to go meet a hog hunter he had coming down. All in all a great morning ! Day 2 was a shift up as JJ had more then one group so we got to meet Kelly and hunt with him on Day two. This morning my father and brother’s best friend joined us for the hunt. We met Kelly and JJ at the office and headed out from there. We got to the blind and put out deeks waiting for the Southwest wind that the weather man called for. About six thirty a few teal buzz us followed by a pair of Grey ducks hitting the decoys. LST rolls around and a redhead burns in a mock 4 and gets smoked over the deeks. We hunted till eleven and ended up with 10 birds a good hunt. Should have had at least a two man limit but well whiffs were present . Kelly was a great guide giving me some instruction on snow and speck calling and hunting to pass the time between birds. Poor Kelly had no idea what he was getting into. Jokes ran rampant from his customers all morning the poor guy had a couple laughing quacks in the call from some of the idiocy. Over all we had a great time hunting with Kent outdoors and we will be back for a return trip in the future! So! A big Thank You! To Mr.Kent for a awesome time I can't wait to see you next time!

I love it when my dog perks up when she hears them coming and alerts me to the ones coming from behind that I don't see.
