My local coop doesn't have deer feed, but does ave 17% goat pellets...will this work for feeding protein to deer or not really? I haven't checked into ordering any deer protein specifically meant for deer yet but I suppose I could have it shipped in. I definitely want something that's convenient to have access to. Anyone here feed goat or even dairy pellets high in protein? Also while I'm at, as far as minerals, it it better to feed loose or mixed in the ground?

Get a deer pellet if you can as it will have a mineral and trace mineral package in it specifically for deer. If they are a Purina, Acco(Cargil) or ADM dealer they can get them weekly on their truck. I would go with a 20% pellet also. Check a Tractor Supply Store also they will have deer pellets.
