Hi I am new to hunting and I am looking for some guidance in buying a bow. A friend of mine referred me to this web site to help me with choosing a bow to get. I am looking to get a compound bow that is good enough to get hogs. Any advice on a good starting out bow would be greatly appreciated!

Make sure You go to a archery PRO SHOP to get fitted properly ! Where do You live ????

Diamond Fugitive for <$600.00 with the RAK (Ready. Aim. Kill = sight,quiver,stabilizer,peep,etc.) Buy arrows and broadheads (another $100-$150)and you are ready to slay the hogs. Agree with a good Pro shop to get you set up. As for experience, take me with you and I'll teach all you need to know.  We should take "The Texan" too. He is a nice guy!

Hey thanks for the quick replies! I live just north of Dallas! Pretty close to the Cabelas off of 75. I've been looking at Bear bows but I'm willing to get anything that's a good buy and will last me a while

There are always guys upgrading. You can probably find a good deal on a used set-up until you really get into it. When I got back into bow hunting I bought a used rig on this site in the classifieds.

As myself and others haved learned as newbies to bowhunting, don't let the big box stores touch ur bow. There are a few guys at these places that know what they are doing, but most aren't that great. PSE has reasonably priced new bows that are ready to hunt. Good luck!

I second that opinion, if your buying your first bow ever don't go to Academy, Gander, Bass Pro, Cabelas. You are shorting yourself getting set up right. You may tink your saving money, but in the long run you aren't, and the experience could turn you off to archery altogether.

If you have the patience, you can learn to tune and set up a lot of things yourself ... lots of info online, just start reading and watching videos. I've done this successfully with several of my own bows now, it just takes me longer than some

Keep your eyes out for clearance bows at Academy. I just bought a Martin Jaguar Magnum compound yesterday for $99 with quiver and sight. Read reviews about it and everyone seems to like them. Didnt really see 1 complain. Bow originally sold for $350.
