Now that deer season is almost over looking for a place to hog hunt. Has anyone hunted lavon for hogs?

I've hunted private land that backs up to the corp. We had feeders and the hogs would come in at night. Most areas are grown up and it will be tough to hunt. I think you need a permit from the corp to hunt? Better look into it.

We were dove hunting the north end of the lake earlier this year and saw lots of droppings and some nice prints, just watch out for the mountain lions .

AUTHORIZED WEAPONS. Hunting the legal game noted below is permitted in designated hunting areas (see Hunting Map) with archery equipment (including crossbows) and shotguns. Anyone hunting with a shotgun may not use, or possess any shot larger than #2. The use of non-toxic USFW approved shot is required for waterfowl hunting. All weapons must be unloaded when transported to, from, or between hunting sites. Rifles, handguns, slugs, and muzzle loaders are prohibited.

On this page it says you can use shotguns on legal game... I think i better call before i go out there...

Beer of the world beware. I'll kill an 18 pack just to watch it die.

Shotguns are legal. You have to have the lavon hunting permit , its free though. Good luck, from my experience there its tough hunting there. the brush is thick, and you can only hunt the hogs during day light. I also have questions about whether #2 shot is adequate for hogs.

i've done a lot of hiking around there on the west side about a mile north of highland park, there is a lot of pig sign out there but i have not actually seen anything. from what i understand from the corp office is that its archery only for hogs and they have a special permit drawing for shotgun slug and feeders after deer season closes. you can bait anytime. i may just hide out in a popup blind all day and see what walks by.

#2's would be very hard to put a hog down with, but even so, as its been stated, hogs are by archery only.
