If you are a meat & taters dude, here is one of my favorite dishes. Chuck, this may be great for your recipe book for the hunters you feed. - Brown ground venison (or beef) and season as you see fit. - Spread this in the bottom of a baking dish - Layer frozen tater tots on top - Mix a can of cream of mushroom and a can of cream of chicken soup together and water down some - Pour soup mixture over tots and meat - Bake at 350 until tots are almost done - Sprinkle grated cheese on top and bake until cheese is melted Enjoy Easy to make and really great. I tried the onion flavored tots once, and it didn't seem the same. I have also used my venison pan sausage by mistake once, and that's the way I make it everytime now.

I just made this and it went over well. Here is what I did and how it turned out.
Roughly 2 lbs ground deer 3/4 of a 2 lb bag of tater tots one can of each soup listed I used between 1 1/2 and 2 cans of water to thin but now I would say to use between 1/2 and 1 can of water. I seasoned the meat with fresh ground pepper and tony c's as I browned it and I put a small amount of tony c's on the tots before I put the soup over it all and it went in the oven. All this was put into a 9x13" casserole dish and cooked at 350 for 35-40 minutes then I put the cheese on and cooked til that looked good to me. I had no complaints at our supper table so good luck to you guys that try this. Al

my wife found a recipe in a cookbook last weekend and we tried it. Very good stuff. My 8 & 11 year old boys loved it and wanted more.

This is some good stuff. We use 1 lb of ground meat and enough tater tots to cover the casserols dish. Good stuff. I like it with the onion tater tots as well. Sometimes add some sliced onion to it.

And I have found that the kiddo's just can't get enough of it. Pretty good for breakfast as well.

I made it yesterday. It was alright, but I think next time I will use 2 cans each of soup and and 1 can or so to water it down. It was too dry.

speedbump...I made it and it was really moist...I browned and seasoned 2 lbs of meat really good and also added in some sautéed onions and 1 can of each soup and about a half can of water on top of the tater tots baked 30 min at 350 and then loaded on the cheese..it was not dry at all

I made it yesterday to break in our burger that we ground Saturday (172 finished pounds worth! out of 10 hind quarters ). I went with 1 can of each soup and 1 1/2 cans of water, whisked it good in a mixing bowl first using hot water. It turned out great, not dry at all. I baked it at 325 for an hour, put cheese on, turned oven off and let it sit until cheese was melted.
