That's great. I have to say I was very surprised that you would take your daughter to Mexico to hunt with all the violence that's going on there. I would be a nervous wreck if I had my wife or kids with me down there.

Thanks BowSlayer. I guess you have to sort the fact from fiction and make your best decisions on that. I've been down in Mexico since long before the BS started down there and still there. Unless your somehow connected with the cartel's or someplace your not supposed to be, it's pretty normal. Great people and a great country that's a hunters paradise!

Where is a good place to go down there? I would like to know that too. And where are you "not supposed to be?". I would love to hunt down there one day but never having been there makes it near impossible for me to know the unwritten rules. I hunted just North of the Border back in October and it was horrible there with the illegals and the BP. I would have to assume that it would be better on the South side of the Border if you are far enough from the border.

yes you don't have that problem when your on the south side of the border....
Simple rules to follow and common sense is this..
Don't travel at night or close to dark. Don't hang out in the bars / "boy's town". Mind your own business and treat everyone as you want to be treated and you'll do just fine.
Obviously if you decide to hunt down there, there are other rules to follow with gun permits, ammo, etc. but all in all it's pretty seamless.

Watch the DFW news about that family from Cleburne and tell me again how safe Mexico can be. I know lots of similar stories from that side of the border.
Great deer, but I'll stick with the whitetails north of the border.

To each his own. That's what makes the world go around. Also watch the news in Grapevine where 5 were shot and killed while opening presents on Christmas morning in there apartment.

I know a group of guys who've been huntining in old Mexico for 14yrs(killin' huge bucks) near where a lot of bad stuff been goin' down but like you stated dstrong, they mind their own biz and never had a problem. Question:
How did you guys buy land down there? I thought you had to be a legal resident or the government could just decide to take it from you. I know there is an option of forming some sort of trust that is through the government that entitles you to own the property for 99 years or something...
Am I way off base? I've looked into land in Mexico before and clearly remember deciding the political risk wasn't worth it. It might just be land that borders the ocean though.
