Well, we are back from Utah and there is good and bad news...
The bad news is that I did not get a lion, the good news is that they are getting me a plane ticket to come back the 1st week in February to have a much better shot at it.
We hunted for 5 days straight from daylight until we couldn't look for tracks anymore. I think we burned a tank of diesel everyday! The temps ranged from -10 to 22 degrees. They said that it was almost too cold for cat hunting. Everytime we found a track it was about two days old. We did cut one good track from the night before, but they said it was about a 90-100 lb cat. They talked me out of chasing it and said they could get me a big one in February. That is the mating season and they are really on the move.
We saw some unbelievable elk and deer! I got some great video of some bulls ranging from mid 200s to a monster 370 !!!!!
About my buddies in Utah...
These guys are crazy!!!!! We went down some mountain roads that would create a pucker factor of 10!!!!!!!!!! They said they wanted to show me a good time.
Here are some scenic photos of the beautiful country...
My budy Darrell loading up one of the hounds...
A pretty elk on the side of a mountain about 50 yards away...
This young bull was hit by the truck in front of us on the way out one morning. The authorities came to take care of him...
This is a small river that we almost sunk a truck in when it broke through some ice. A dude in a bacoe came along and helped us break the ice and get through it...
Here is a big cat track that was 1 day too old to chase after...Dangit...
I plan to go back soon to pursue my dream hunt again. Wish me luck.
