On Dec 16-18 my wife and I drove up to Lipan, Tx to hunt on the Lazy W ranch with Doug Winn (LazyWWhitetail here). Have to say it was an outstanding time. Being in the Army our opportunity to get out and hunt often unfortunately doesn't get to happen so this was just a top notch experience. Lodging was outstanding, food was great and the hospitality shown by Doug and his wife was great; felt more like staying with family rather than a "business venture". The Ranch it's self was also absolutely beautiful. It was a little muddy out there but it was great brushlands. Once on the ranch you could go your whole time and never see a fence as well which was really nice. We hunted in a stand overlooking a field so we got to enjoy quite a view all morning. At one point we had about 30 deer that we could see. There are some great herds on his land; and everything from yearlings/fawns to huge 170"+ class deer. My particular deer that I ended up shooting came from the far side of the pasture we were watching trailing a couple does. At around 140 yards from our stand (range finder had that spot at 138 after the shot was taken), he turned away from us and started heading back into the treeline. Best/last shot opportunity was there so I took a slightly quartered broadside. Using my rem700 in .308 I hit him near the back of his left lung and my round traveled diagonally up his chest through his lungs and came out about an inch behind his right shoulder. He kicked back and jumped into the treeline. He jumped over a small fence that was about 10 feet from him and ran maybe 20 more feet. When we climbed down to go trail him we couldn't find any blood (due to the shot being above midline) but my wife saw him next to a tree still within sight of where he stood when I shot him. Can't beat a quick/clean kill like that. Here he is...187lbs live weight, 18inch 1cm spread and 133 1/8" score, 9pts. Doug says this particular buck was a 10 last year. 9th point My wife also got a nice little doe the same evening I got my buck as well. She weighed in at 84lbs and will go very nice on the wall next to my buck. (We're getting them both mounted as a "his and her" type wall display since this was a "huntingmoon" for us. We got married this year in June and the Army being the Army we haven't gotten a chance to go on a honeymoon) Definitely recommend the Lazy W Ranch to anyone wanting a quality hunting trip for white tail with first class hospitality. Thanks Doug and Debra!

Congrats to both you and your wife!

Congrats to you and your new wife. My wife hunts with me, too. We have a great time.
It's the time spent in God's creation with family and friends making memories that counts.
