Shot this up near Hunt Tx. Was actually hunting for other critters.. mainly a Fallow deer that had been seen, when we stumbled upon this guy with a doe. Now I have hunted for axis deer near Junction and saw plenty of Sika.. but they were small and very dark brown, almost black.. This guy weight in at just under 200LBS... had a nice rack and beautiful hide... But which class of Sika is he, there are a few subspecies or something, Im not sure.. any help would be appreciated. Thanks and Merry Christmas!

Dybowski Sika- They are the largest of the sika's. They have the spots on them and the spots are more prominent in their summer coats.

The more I see of the people's representatives, the more I like my dogs.

Sounds to me like he knew it was a sika but unsure of the sub species. Why not shoot it? Nice deer!
