I have a 2 of the cyclops 3.5 mil power with red lenses. Seems to spook all varmints. Does fine for hogs but as for coyotes and bobcats they spook. Looking to make a change. Help me out a little with some suggestions.

Sounds like you are calling some animals that have been educated or they are busting you due to scent. I would suggest switching over to a dimmer and dimming down the intensity of the light. My 2 pennys!

Way to much candle power for my likes . 250,000 is tops for me . Im using a 22 dollar hand held black and decker light from Walmart . uses 4 c batteries and last ridiculously long .

thx for the help so far i have been looking at the lightforce in 250,000 with red lenses and you can also get the cover. only problem is they are $110. I wanted a light with something that can be adjusted from around 200,000 for scanning then switching to 5 mil or so for the shot.. just what i was thinking. i have been before with 200,000 and i just thought the animal was hard to clearly make out muchless make a 150 yard shot.

Before you decide the light is spooking them, I would double check that wind. I wouldn't even waste my time with a red lense because it's really a PITA to see em far away. Everyone has their own personal opinion on lenses and light intensities which is cool and works for them but I like to get my wind right and light them up the whole way. If you are silent, and the wind is favoring you, you truly are invisible to them. Good luck

tdecker, Amazon has a Cyclops that is a lower intensity for about $50. I am also looking for a good rechargeable light and looking on here for ideas.

get the lightforce, you wont regret it. The lightforce concetrates the beam better than any spotlight I have seen and animals are lit up great. I have used the cyclops and it has worked fine too, but prefer the lightforce over the qbeam any of them. No need to intensify the light for shooting, thats a waste of time to me. I like to stay from 200,000 to 500,000 cp. One thing on the lightforce is make sure you get a halo guard.

My lightforce is pile of junk as well. Took a dump 2 nights ago but that's why we always carry 3-4 lights. Sh*ts gonna happen..... Everyone will have a different opinion, find one that you like is the best advice I can give you.

Blue ribbons if you can find this lil Black and Decker I speak of you wont need a rechargeable . Bought it last year in November and hunted 5 allnighters and used it guiding all year as well as walking at night with the wife at the golf course . Just changed the batteries in August . It still was working though when I changed them . They are orange with black ring .

Try a magna light spot/flood combo. It's 5 million at full power and with a dimmer will do anything you need it to for killing predators. Make sure you get the halogen. Remember, just cause your truck may go 100mph, don't mean you have to drive it that fast everywhere you go. Same thing goes for your light! A real smart guy named Kelly told me that once and I couldn't explain it any better. Take care Chris

Are you kidding me . this thing aint much bigger than my hand and those friggin Qbeams and others weigh a TON . LOL No cord to get me wrapped up either . Heres something to chew on when it comes to running alight . A coyote can run a 100 yards in probably 5-8 seconds So if it takes you 30 seconds to make a round you might not ever know about the yote that came in and busted you and left . The same guy who taught me that said that if your running it slow it means your either Old , blind or a combination of the two . LOL

The walmart light sounds good. I am going to check it outdoor when they open tomorrow. So it puts off plenty of light to shoot 100-150 yrds. Also I have found out that it is hard to find a spotlight in the 200,000 range.. all the lights they are making now are a minimum of 1,000,000. I found these lights called nite owl. Check these out let me know what y'all think. http://www.wfharris.com/NiteOwl.htm

Listen to clay reid on the light, I have 8 of them now. The reason I have so many is in case they quit making them.

I looked on walmart.com and did not see one that met that criteria. Let me know if I am overlooking it or what.. sounds like a good light.

The link looks like what he is describing but I guess they are out or have discontinued them or something. But the light didn't say anything about red. Are y'all doing something special for that or does the light have some red led.

That is not the exact light, but very close. They are in some wal mart stores now, but not available on line. It will shine way past a hundred yards has two different levels and both will go way past a hundred. As far as the red lense will need to make own or paint witha red dykem metal paint.

I had a 67 year old man shoot a coyote at 186 yards using this light in November . been going with just straight white light and hasnt seem to be a problem . im not a halo guy either . I put it in their eyes and keep the light as still as possible . I figure if they see no movement out of the light then they see it as nothing other than a regular ol streetlight . I usually always use a red lens but with this low of a light I thought I would go White . Its been working well . Thats not the light I speak of but close .

Hey found at light at interstate battery that is small and runs off of 4aa batteries. 180 linens led spotlight. Bought separate red green and blue filters for it. We get a little discount with work but the light is usually only $15. And the filters are just a few $. The filter clamps tight around the lenses and there is no white light that shows anywhere. Not sure if it is going to be bright enough or not but thought for $10 it was hard to go wrong. If someone can post pics I will email it to you if anyone is interested.

Just got to the house and out some batteries in the light. Light was brighter than I thought it would be. Held a tight beam also. I think this could just be what I was looking for. Not sure what it compares to with candlepower but it couldn't be much.

I bought this light as a black friday special and I freakin love this thing. It fits in my pocket and has multiple brightness settings. I got it for $20 but it looks like it is $40 now. I would keep an eye on these and if they go on sale scoop a couple up. I know I am.

I have the Stanley light, but it is not near the quality of light as the one clay speaks of.
