taking my bow from 60 to 70lbs, was shooting 275fps w/ the 60's, what do you think I will gain w/ the 10lbs increase?

Are you going to shoot the same arrows? It will be faster if you shoot the same weight arrow.

Let us know how it turns out.

You need to be sure your arrows are spined well for the increase. Everything being equal though I would say you should be right @ 285 to 290. I've shot mine for so long I've forgotten what the exact ft/sec for each pound of increase but I thought it was 5ft/3 pounds but I could be wrong.

Not any speed if you go with heavier arrows.

Are you speed shooting or hunting? I wouldn't shoot the same arrows with a 10# increase in draw weight, but that's just me.

Your old arrows might not be able to handle the new pressure with the new limbs. I will check it out for you when we put the limbs on.

It has nothing to do with KE. It has to do with the stiffness of the arrow and how it matches up with the poundage you are shooting. What arrows are you shooting? Look at a chart for those arrows. Depending on your draw length and length of arrow you're shooting, it might be close to being OK.

I went from 70# to 60# this past year, and the same arrows wouldn't tune right. I knew they probably wouldn't, but I tried it anyway. There are ways around it, though. Going from a 100 gr head to a 125 gr head is one. Heavier head weakens the arrow.

The reason I asked if you are shooting a hunting setup...275 is plenty fast for hunting. Why the increase in speed? I shot a buck this past Friday with my Allegiance set at 56#. 30 yards...he never heard it and didn't know what slipped right through him. I haven't measured, but I figure I'm sitting around 270 ft/second shooting 125 gr heads.

I think they will work, I can't get on the carbon express website at work , they are carbon express maxima's 250, 29 inch draw, new limbs will be 70lbs... some one should look that up for me

Failure to get a pass through is more about shot placement. Like I said, 30 yard shot at 56# with a heavy hunting arrow on Friday...passed right through, and he ran about 40 yards. It's all about where you hit them. You can get a pass through at 40# with the new equipment and optimal shot placement.

Nothing wrong with going higher. Just be forewarned you MIGHT have some issues getting it to shoot as good unless you can tune it in or go to heavier arrows.

The chart is on Cabela's website for the Maxima arrows:

http://www.cabelas.com/prod-1/0032958416909a.shtml

Chart says you need a 350.

I agree w/ the shot placemet

non pass thoughs so far...., one was a Ram 1/4 away and it went in the arm pit and ran in to the brest plate, the other was a hog at 15 yrds hit it back, maybe 3rd rib in from the back, (both dies quickly) the other was a white tail at 50 yrds and the bow was not tuned up then (long Story) he died also but ran a long way.... 50 yrds w/ a 60 lb bow is a little far.....

Your doing the right thing. There was no reason for you to not get a pass through on that hog. Nothing there to stop it and it still hung up in the gut.
