We haven't had the greatest year as far as hunting goes this year. We hunt out in Kimble county and went from extreme drought this summer and the lease being the dryest I've ever seen. To more rain than I ever seen in the month of October and the lease turning the greenest I've ever seen it. There was a tone of new vegetation growing right as the season started and the deer had no reasons to come to feeders, water or plots. We've taken a few does and a spike all together and haven't seen much to get excited about as far as bucks go. We are headed out the last weekend of the season and maybe after some cold weather and natural resources freezing up the deer will be moving again for us.

But with the down year and no results I realized last night that this seaosn has been just as enjoyable as any other. I was going over the pictures from this year and stumbled across this one. It doesn't look like much but it really is someting to think about. Sitting around that camp fire are 4 generations of family hunters. My grandpa, dad, brother, my son and me. It's seeing things like this that make me stop and really understand why I enjoy that lease so much. It's not about the deer hunting but about creating some of the greatest memories I've ever had. If you look at that picture you wont see abunch of down faces not enjoying themselves, but family members enjoying every second that they get to spend together no matter how the seasons gone.

Thanks everyone for looking and I hope everyones seasons have created the same life long memories that mine has.

James C.

You are right and you are a lucky man.

I once drank muddy water out of a hoof print and was dang glad to get it.

The best part of hunting isn't actually the killing of an animal. You hit the nail on the head!

You should have that picture framed and give everyone in the pic a copy including one each for you and your son.

Great pic good times !

Thanks everyone for all the awesome post. And like I said earlier, I hope everyone had the same enjoyment and great memories from their leases and seasons.

Merry Christmas to everyone from our lease,
