Put me down for Remington ( lots of military and police departments agree) If were are talking bolt action rifles.

Remington Shotgun Shells, Rifle Cartridges and Rifles. I recieved a Remington 1100 20 Gauge for Christmas back in 1980. I shot a lot of Quail and Dove with that Shotgun back in the day.

If I had to choose for a rifle, it would be Remington. If I had to choose for a new shotgun, it would be the SX3 over any of big green's new shotguns.

The new Winchester made by FN are good, put those above all but perhaps the top Remingtons.
Shotgund neither are in the running IMO for new guns, Like Bobo said take your pick Beretta, Benelli then Browning
Rifle ammo Nosler, Norma, Barnes, Federal Premium
Shotgun upland still hard to best Winchester target loads
Waterfowl and turkey Renington HD
thise IMO

Remmy 700's. I think the 770's and 710's are junk. Nothing against Winchester, but I'm gonna stick with what works.

Winchester Model 70 all the way!! I have been shooting Model 70's since the early 60's. Just make sure it is a model with control round feed.
I prefer the 3 position safety on the Model 70 and I especially like the Featherweight Model. I have 10 in different calibers and all are extremely accurate!!

remingtons junk you couldnt give me one to use as an anchor Yelp they sure do sux .... Since I have a remi sps that the only accuracy improvements are it being pillar bedded and it will shoot < .5 with three different factory loads and < moa with 6 factory loads all day and even 25 shots if you want to spend $90 bucks trying to show off

remington and winchester are both good guns.
if i had to pick a bolt gun, winchester would win, but they are both great.
killed my first deer with a model 70.

Between Winchester and Remington I would have to go with the 700 simply because everyone in the world who sells stocks, triggers, rails, bolts, barrels or other parts and accessories for bolt rifles sells something for the Remington 700 in the exact color you're looking for and you will not have to jump through hoops to get a gunsmith to put special thread timing on whatever it is that you're buying before it will mate up with your rifle.
Not that there isn't a thriving aftermarket for the Winchesters, but it isn't the same.
Otherwise, I would rather build a rifle around an old L61R action. Or just buy a Weatherby. That new X-mark trigger isn't my favorite at all.
As far as accuracy is concerned, just about any modern production rifle is going to spit bullets far straighter than greater than 95% of shooters can hold. Now that accurate, affordable chronographs and internet connections are ubiquitous, if a commercial load is inconsistent it will get bashed on the internet as junk and sales may suffer. In response, commercial ammunition generally does what it says it will do on the box. In other words, you can squeeze a pretty tight group out of just about any new rifle without modifying it and feeding it with Corelokt or Federal or Hornady. You chances of getting a great shooter are about the same with Ruger, Winchester, Remington, Savage, STEVENS, Howa, Weatherby, etc. etc. I wouldn't get too hung up on your rifle maker's reputation for printing 1/4" groups at 100 yards - the first one is all that really matters anyway. The rifle that fits your needs best (and your budget) is the right one. The rest is just "FORD-CHEVY".
