This may be a dumb question but what is the point of a single pin bow sight? Do any of you users like them better? Pros, cons?

love my old school HHA
lots of adjustability
no guessing which pin (A.D.D. brain + glasses really helpful)
this is kinda cheating but ive seen enough 3D Animals through it to know distances by how much of the animal fills the circumference of the inner ring

only negative is the time to adjust. for 3D/target its fine for hunting instances where you are spot and stalk it can be tricky.

I shoot one of the TruGlo single pins and love it. Sighted it in at 20 yards, and my bow shoots so flat that I don't have to aim any different out to 30 yards. I love it, and like Zen said, after enough target time, especially 3D's, you can guess ranges in a matter of seconds and be pretty dang close. Instead of using the sight picture to range, I have found that I'm more consistent if I place the top of the pin on the top of the target (3D deer) and see how much of the pin covers the girth of the deer. I have "mental hashmarks" on the pin and I know which one applies to different ranges. It works for me and I stick to it. Haven't used a rangefinder in years.

I also love no other pins to clutter the sight picture. Once you get used to a single pin, its awesome.

I shot a Spott Hogg for awhile before switching over.

If you shoot a fast bow the pins get ridiculously close together and it screwed me up when shooting at animals. I went to the HHA .19 and it is awesome. Clear field of view, no adjustment out to 35 yds with my set up and I don't have any shot opportunities that are longer than that anyway.

I posted a post simialr to this not to long ago. I shoot a 4 pin sight right now, and got to the point where my pins seemd to be right on top of each other and was having trouble focusing on the center two pins. My bow is fast enough that I have one pin sighted in at 20 yards that I can use for shots from 10 yards out to 35 with little aim adjustments and then one sitting at 45 yards. The other two are sitting at the bottom of the sight just hanging out. This has been the best thing I have done for my shooting accuracy.

After the season I am going to a single pin sight or one with the fixed pin and floating pin for further shots.

I used a single pin for years. With the new technology and the speed of the bows, it was more than sufficient for the shots that I am willing to take on a Texas Deer. I have yet to shoot a deer of 30 yards and don't plan on it. I did switch to a 3 pin this year to hunt in Kansas. The deer are bigger and they are not nearly as jumpy.

I like the one pin system but also agree with txshntr about Kansas. there big and not as string jumpy. i will take longer shots in kansas if it is a perfect situation. my 2cents.

I think you have it pretty much nailed. If you hunt close quarters then use a one pin system. I have a bow setup in this manner and another bow with 5 pins for Oklahoma, Kentucky and in case I go elk hunting.

A mature buck might be a deer, but you can bet it's a totally different animal

im planning on getting the G5 XR sights after christmas. its a 3 pin sight. with an additional "floating pin" that you can adjust up and down with a little nob on the side. ill have the 3 pin set at 20 30 40 most likely and that floating pin set up to how ever far it can. not saying i would shoot a deer past 40 but i love shooting far distances for fun with my bow

I completely agree with this.
I didn't realize how fast my bow was until we started adjusting pins.
The truglo 5 pins is pretty cluttered on mine, that's when I pulled the trigger on the Accu-pin.
