Look at the size difference from the young bird on the far left compared to the rest....The far left bird must have been in the jet stream from KS.......cuz the rest of them are TEXAS PHEASANT!!!!

Shorthair, thanks for posting the pictures!

Guys, this was the best pheasant hunt ever for me. This year I hunted in Kansas on opening weekend and for 2 days over Thanksgiving, but Tim showed me more pheasants by 11:00 on the first day (Friday) than I had seen all year in Kansas.

Yesterday was awesome too. We got into one patch that had all of our barrels smoking, ha! I took my limit in about a 15 minute window. Tim's dog Boone was so busy that Clark's lab Daisy even made a perfect point on a rooster! It was quite a sight to see those two dogs fetching birds as fast as they could. Awesome hunt!

Thanks,
Cass

Very nice bird indeed. I always like it when you see that tail feather waving behind the old ones like a banner in the breeze.

Yesterday I cleaned my gun and got my gear cleaned and squared away.

I was real happy with the old "Humpback" Browning Light Twelve and enjoyed shooting it. I hadn't hunted pheasants for 21 years, but on trips to Kansas and this trip to the Texas Panhandle, I managed to take 16 rooster pheasants with it this year. Not bad for a rusty shooter and a gun made in 1956, ha!

I just put two of those roosters in the oven. Marinated in buttermilk, stuffed with onion and celery, and sprinkled with salt, pepper, garlic powder, rosemary, and thyme. They should come out great.
