I had the pleasure of hunting with 3 generations of Schonbergs on Sunday morning.

Mike had hollered at me and said he wanted to do something different besides hunting a "stock tank" or flooded marsh.

So, I said, I have the spot.

We packed up 12 dozen duck decoys and 6 dozen Goose decoys and away we went...

I had found a stretch of River that was holding Thousands of birds and knew they would be trading up and down it all day.

We set up our layout blinds and got ready.

We literally didn't go 2 minutes without having birds on top of us...

"Only" problem was there was absolutely NO wind. And 12 dozen decoys sitting motionless will NOT bring in birds!

We managed to pull in several groups, but did best with the singles.

When we finally started to pick up at 10:00 the wind finally started blowing and the birds started working better. hammer

But they got to hunt something totally different than what they typically do and we had a "GREAT" time!!

Mike I really enjoyed getting to hunt with you, your dad and Matthew!

J.J.

Few pic's I took of the three Schonberg's:

You can't tell but this kid had a pretty big smile on his face!! up

I like it when a guide doesn't only post pictures of limits, even though most of the time you do. Says a lot. Cool hunt.

Evidently middle gen in the 2nd pic didn't think he got his money's worth....check out his right hand holding the gun...LOL, or maybe he's saying you're number 1!!

JK, looks good, one of these days I need to come up there to learn how to do it right, esp calling.

Hey now Thomas - no subliminal messages in that pose I promise! angel

Actually I was at the ready for any birds that always come during pick up and sure enough one last grey took a look a little too close right as JJ was snapping that! Bo made a heck of a retrieve too.

In all seriousness - JJ was not exagerating on the spread. He really worked his rear off for us and we all appreciated it.

haha, I know, it just looks funny to me smile Seems like ducks always know when people are cleaning up and don't have shells in the chamber.
