To much staining on his hocks to be a 3.5 yr old IMO. I am thinking more along the lines of a rutted down, drought stressed 5.5 yr old. Heck of a buck either way.

The hocks are the only thing that would tell me that deer was 5.5, and it is possible (not common) for the hocks to be misleading. I don't see any sagging of the skin, no major jowls, no scarring, and usually in that area deer don't make it to 5.5 without knotched ears or wounds from fighting. Too many bucks. If there were some pics of some other deer, it would be easier to tell the height and length of the deer.

I still don't see where yall see 3.5....4.5 maybe but no 3.5

Not all deer are large bodied either. I have seen very small bodied 7.5 yr old bucks in South Texas that looked like this buck. Not many of them but a few. I saw 4 yrs of video of a buck once that looked like this and he had to have been at least 6.5 or 7.5 yrs of age in the last year of video and he never showed a large body or sagging skin of a deer his age. A 5.5 yr old buck is in his prime and will not usually show many signs of sagging skin at this time of the year even during the rut or a drought. Not all deer are fighters either. This deer has all his points and no sign of any broken ones. What he does show is rut stress from body weight loss. He also shows me of past rut stress by the way he sets down on his dewclaws in a couple of pics which can be a sign of aging. He also appears to show some caloused knees in the top pic, which would come with age. I think the fact that he is slim bodied is more of the area he is at and the drought that is hiding his age more. This does appear to be more of Llano county or San Saba county to me also.
