Back and forth across the width and the length of the Wetlands TWELVE times this morning ...no wonder the boy is tired!

Carol and I had a very productive morning. We hunted out of blinds on the opposite ends of the open water, about 200 yards apart. As soon as Rusty would be sent for a duck on my end, Carol would get one on her side. Mixed in with that was a very sneaky crip hen mallard that must've run Rusty another 100 yards through flooded cover 18" or so deep in the background of the next pic until he finally got her.

I think he was happy it was over when we quit. Yesterday was the first day he didn't hunt during the full 2011-2012 season (Remi went) and he was more than anxious to leave this morning.

Nice. GF said Whipple wasn't too happy when I only took Paxton this morning.

Jim,

Kendall has retrieved 71 ducks on public, in 4 consecutive days days, she sleeps any chance she gets. Are you going to get any duck that Rusty gets mounted? I'm trying to find a duck that is wall worthy for Kendall right now. Hope you keep these limits up.

Shhhhhhh ... don't want to jinx a good thing. I did that several times in the early fall posting about the BIG rains in the forecast only to have them turn to much lighter than sprinkles.

Atta girl Kendall, you go girl! There have been a couple that I was a little tempted on. A drake Pintail, a drake Woodie and a very nicely colored drake Wigeon. But it's still early and as many as we already have mounted, any new ones have to be in the outstanding class or better.

Keep in mind that I'm 70, Carol is 64 and we only hunt our one small piece of property. Not only am I grateful to God for the time and health he's granted us to enjoy this sport, it's still not about numbers of birds killed that matters. It's still being able to have the time together with our 4-legged kids.

Even when Cappy and Remi can't hunt, they still get their "planted duck" when we return home. Carol happened to catch them both in the same pic yesterday as they picked up birds from a different location and headed back to me.
