Got time in the morning before work to hunt, but the forecast says rain.

To go or not to go?

Do ducks fly in the rain?

Yes, I've had some good hunts in the rain. If you've got the proper gear, you'll stay pretty dry. I had an unbelievable wood duck hunt in the rain two years ago in East Texas.

Give it a shot.

I've shot plenty of ducks in the rain.

You'll never know unless you get out there smile That's pretty much what keeps me going...everytime I stay home all I can think about is "what if"

two years ago I bought a kobuk neoprene wading jacket from cabelas. hands down the best purchase I have made for duck hunting. it is warm, thin, and COMPLETELY waterproof. hunting in the rain is no big deal at all.

sorry, got side tracked. yes, birds will fly. good luck!

Is it duck season yet?

Thanks guys. Thought it was worth a try, but wanted to see what you guys thought. I know nothing is guaranteed, but didn't want to waste my time if it was a known fact ducks don't fly on the rain.

I'm here and set up. Light drizzle, wind strong and from my 10:00. Not uncomfortable, but complete opposite of the weather last time I was here.

Sunday- cold, still, dry.
Wednesday- warm, windy, wet.

Let's see how it works.

The "x" was about 75 straight out from my setup. They seemed to want to land in open water. If it wasn't for idiots, I might have gone home empty handed. They were flying like crazy all morning, but only had a handful even give the decoys a second look. Took a young widgeon and 3 mentally deficient gadwall hens. Left at 9 am. All in all, a good morning!

From personal experience you can have great shoots in the rain. However the birds tend to fly a little later.
