Took my 7 and 8 year old boys on a doe hunt in Brady last Saturday. At 5pm I stuck a fat doe with a quartering shotand she ran off . Arrow looked good and she left decent blood. After 40 yards it slowed and I lost the blood. I was following a trail that looked like a likely path she may have taken. I turned around and my 7 year old was going the opposite direction. I hollered for him to come with me and he said I'm following blood. He continued to find small drops of blood that I couldn't see! She finally crossed a fence and the blood quit again He circled around and picked it up again. After about 125 yards we found the deer. I'm not sure I would have found the deer without him. It was getting dark and the property is very thick. I didn't want to be looking at night.
I was amazed at how this little boy could find blood! He's never followed blood before but I think he is a natural. He's been saying for two years how he is gonna be a pro hunter when he gets big I think he may be right.

The shot was good if not a little high. It took out the Liver and one Lung. Both the entry and exit wound was just full of fat. I'm amazed she traveled as far and even jumped a good fence.

Could you post your phone number here. Someone's always needing help trailing a wounded deer!

Parker,

you know the answer to that question!
He's ate up with it though. He's been running around the house all day with his "will hunt for food" cap on asking when are we going back to Brady...
