I've seen a few photos of a kid's first buck on here and some of them are HUGE! Of course that has me envious as I'm in my fifty's and just started really hunting last year. In my neck of the woods I've got 18 acres of low fence with about 20 acres behind me that's mostly abandoned. While I have deer, I doubt if any will ever be true trophy bucks (unless a hapless buck who's lost wanders by). I can only draw from what's available on my own property, so I'll use the game cams to find the best offering and wait for him to show.
And if your kids took a nice buck this year then I say CONGRATS -but not for the deer, for taking the time to be with your kids. I just wish my dad had the oppertunity to take me hunting more when I was younger.

I have never posted a pic on here... I do however enjoy seeing the ones that are posted. I have seen some very interesting things from the photos posted. I feel like some people are very critical of others photos and I can understand someone not posting because of that. I have not had the opportunity to get a nice deer since joining this forum but I will post pics if I do.
My attitude is this. I don't need affirmation from anyone. As long as I hunt ethically and within the regulations. I would share the photos and if someone wants to get all critical then that's there issue not mine.
So...Keep posting and sharing we all learn from it, and shrug off the "I am Superhunter and you suck" comments.
Hunt Safe, Have Fun !!

I can't explain it but for some reason I'm sqeamish about posting pics on the world wide web.I share them with friends and I've shared some with members on here privately. I really enjoy looking at others' pics though.
I learned long ago you can't reason someone out of something they don't reason themselves into.

It's probably because every time a photo is posted someone has to jump in and criticize the poster because the deer is either too young, was shot on a high fence ranch, the shot was unethical, etc. That is just my guess... ditto

I haven't posted many because all I have shot is some hogs and 1 doe. I have had some friends shoot some bucks off my place. Might as well post those. One is a member on this forum. HF'ed monsters...probably the same size as what everyone else is shooting. Who really cares what others think anyways.... Her largest buck

If you shoot a young deer because a neighbor will shoot it, you are that neighbor.

I have often thought that with regard to the hunting forums the responses are way too critical for one reason or another. I dont thing the pre to the pic post should be "He is big for the area" or "I know he doesn't compare.." I think some folks should remember that hunting is about much more than horns and huge frames. I enjoy it when people post but yes I would be much more reluctant to post a deer pic than say fishing ...

If someone shoots a legal deer and posts it, and anyone has a problem with it, that's exactly what they have...a problem! I've said before that I got irritated seeing young deer taken on a few leases I was on, but to have the nerve to actually blast someone for their choice of game taken is bs IMO! I've never voiced my opinion, because I was taught that if you don't have anything good to say, keep your mouth shut (yes, thats the exact phrase Dad used, he didn't pull any punches...lol) That being said, I've yet to harvest anything this year, but if I do, I'll post a pic of it, and if anyone has an issue with it, I don't really give a rats hind end
I will get off in a little bit You shouldnt have said that
