I bet unless the fema trailer is unused that some of them are down right nasty. Hey maybe you could get a fema trailer and sue the gov. because of the toxic fumes. I still cant get over that.

I had one when my house got damaged for Rita, and it was in perfect shape. But they would not let me buy it. Most of the ones people used would not be worth anything IMO. Most of the people didn't take care of them.

I bought a used shipping container (40'), and had it delivered. After insulating and drywalling the inside, it's very serviceable....and lock-able, which is important in the brush country!

Thats ours in different stages. It is 8 x 12. We have cots on either side of the door and a table under the window. It's not bad for 2 people. We have done a lot more to it lately, but I don't have any currnet pictures.

The first one is my deer-blind cabin - 6X8 with 2 Bunks. It worked great while builing the other cabin. The next 2 are the cabin. It is dried in now and painted with gutters to catch rain water. I am going out in a few weeks to do some kind of septic tank. Any ideas on that woudl be appreciated.....

My wife tells me I am at 3500 and that I am over budget. I actually thought I had 3200 in it. I am working the angle that was for 2007 and I have a new year and a new budget......

The roof and window account for about half. I also went a bit overboard on the flooring system. 4X6 clad in 2X6 for the beams, 2X8s for the joists, and 2X12s for the rim joists. It is sitting on rock so I drilled down into the rock and pounded in rebar, then built the cinder block piers filled with concrete over the rebar. I also could have gotten away with 2X4s for the roof trusses but since it was going to me hanging out there putting up the roof I went with 2X6s there also. It is built better than most houses and when you think about the 12X16 building built by home depot for 6 grand, 3500 for 12X24 does not seem so bad. Or at least that is what I tell my wife...... And yes - There are lofts on each end.

The first is a pic of our toilet facilities. The second is of the cabin and our hanging rack in the daytime and the third is the cabin at night. The center section is a log cabin that was built in 1859. It has had a kitchen added to the left side and a bedroom added to the right side.

Hard to believe, but, this is still standing. Keeps us dry and warm.
