As long as your choke tube is MOD or more open you will be OK. I shoot slugs out of a Maverick 12ga with the I.C choke in. No problems.
What do you plan to hunt?

I.C. is a good choice, just be sure to use sights or an aimpoint type sight because just lining up the beads is only good to about 20 yards. Although I have made a couple of lucky shots at longer distances this way most of my shots were missed. Since I went to a rifled gun with Lightfield slugs my kill ratio has increased exponentially out to 125 yards.

does one brand of shotgun or model seem to be more accurate than others when shooting slugs also what type off scope brand, model, power, objective size and what type of reticle?

I think the key to accuracy is getting a rifled barrel designed specificaly for slugs. With a plain smoth barrel, accuracy deteriates rapidly past 40 yds, no matter what brand.

My brother shoots a Ithaca and it is very acurate. I have a Mossberg 690 ( I think that's the model) bolt action and it is a tack driver but operating the saftey with a scope on it is interesting.

AR's with 30 round clips works very well for hogs...Have not had any run off.

Remington 870's and Benelli's with 20inch Rifle sights and smooth bore barrels consistenly hit 4-6 inch groups at 100 yards for us. Use IC if available for the rifled slugs. No need for a rifled barrel at ranges under a 100 yards. Never shoot a shotgun with the tubes removed...

If I were going to use rifled slugs in a smoothbore I would still get a rifled choke tube. My 870 Express with a two power scope gets 2 inch center to center 3 shot groups at 50 yards with the old Remington Sluggers. I haven't tried those expensive Sabots but I feel sure they would group well with the rifled choke tube.
