I hunt with handguns, mostly 5 1/2" single actions and on some days under some conditions 25 yards is too much. On another day or with different conditions who knows? 150 yards is not out of the question, maybe.  Learn how. Discover how. Experiment, practice,  you never know just what you can do until you try. I shoot long range with my iron sighted revolvers and with wounded game, eat to survive, or "bad" guys. 500 yards is not a safe place to be.
Watch my 5 part video series on youtube, its on long range revolver shooting with iron sights. ( http://www.youtube.com/user/texasfivegun ) Part 4 is the shooting if that's all you are interested in.
You can take some liquid paper, a needle, a brass "tooth brush" and a beach chair if you can find one.

Use the liquid paper on your front sight. Make a line with the needle to use as a reference and brush of the
dried paper with the brass brush to start over if your marks are wrong or when your finished.
The chair I like to use puts your butt about 4" off the ground and lets you lean back. You pull your legs up put your hands/wrists between your knees. It works better "much better" for me than a bench rest or any thing else.
I have a Caldwell HAMMR machine rest and I can out shoot it with my chairs.
You must have "0" flinch for this, a good spotter helps and if you can get the sun behind you the bullets are easy to see in flight.
You may run out of front sight with a long barrel, short to medium barrels and tall front sights are easier to work with.
I have never shot a 500 or 460 S&W but we have found with 500 & 475 Linebaughs, 414 & 445 Supermags, 454 Casull, and
44 Remington Magnum. A heavy for caliber cast lead bullet works best. A gas check is easier to see in flight. A high velocity
is not needed. About 1200 FPS is what we use the most.

If you take all the guns off the street you still will have a crime problem, whereas if you take the criminals off the street you cannot have a gun problem.

You posted a few videos on here a year or two ago- Bisley frame with a nice edge stitched leather rig IIRC. I still think about pulling my beach chair out and giving it a try. I just swapped for a 6.5" Raging Bull that I'm itching to stretch out...

That kind of shooting is a lot of fun. Been wanting to take out a Browning HighPower I got back in the summer for a little long range fun it is one of the ones with tangeht sights, will also take along the SuperBlack Hawk when I do. Haven't done that kind of shooting in several years. We used to setup and shoot at water bottles with 22 pistols out to 200 yards that was fun also.

Sounds like fun. Perhaps after deer season. Looks like I will he taking hunters out, or doing a little hunting about every weekend until the end of season.

I have a Ruger Blackhawk .44 mag that I just scoped to shoot. Took it to the range and at 25 yds I felt lucky to hit the paper. Which I did everytime and was not farther than 4 inches from the 10 ring. Watching you shoot with iron sights makes me feel like an idiot scoping the handgun. I might take the scope off and try the iron sights. Looks like a lot of fun. Thats some good shooting.

Very nice! We also have played with this. We were shooting steel about the size of a man hole cover at 300 yards. Out of a magazine, we'd get a few hits. It's all about trigger control!

That's pretty impressive, I know out at my friends property we staged targets from 50-150 yards and would call out different targets. Its a challenge but we typically would be able to hit our targets and shoot about a 4-5 inch group. Its even more impressive when you can hardly see the target like in this video though.

Speed has never killed anyone, suddenly becoming stationary, that's what gets you.

you must realize that fear is not real, It is a product of thoughts you create. Do not misunderstand, danger is very real, but fear is our choice!

Hey Ricky! How are you doing? Yes I'm still shooting my 500 Linebaugh. Banging away at the same steel plate you were hitting with your 475 at ranges that some men with rifles would be proud to hit.
