Does anyone know a good source for used Polaris parts. I need a flywheel but do not want to give Polaris $300 for one. I have been unable to find anything on the aftermarket. I figure the demand is just not there for flywheels. For $300 I will just use the rope.

Rope, as in pull starter. The rope starter does not need the flywheel whereas the electic one does.

Doesnt the engine need the flywheel to run?.. or at least run properly?

Yes, but if just the teeth on the flywheel are damaged (where the starter engages) then it will run and perform fine. The mass is still there

What Model Polaris?

I have some Sportsman 500 parts I have zero use for anymore (read:free) and there might be a flywheel in the pile.

$269 is better than $300 but my range is <=$150. For $300 I will just pull start it. It would nice to have the electric starter working right now since my ankle is broke but it will heal.

On some flywheels you can replace the starter ring gear??
I Don't know, but I would ask about it? Might save you some $

Starter drive gear has been replaced. Todd told me when he did it that there was a bad spot on the flywheel. The bad spot just got worse.
