Ok guys, I've been thinking. I caped my Kansas buck out for a shoulder mount, and am wishing I would have brought him back whole to do a full body. Just for kicks, how big would a deer have to be to consider a full body mount? Different for a bow vs gun kill?

He would have to have some kind of unique characteristic beyond his horns. Unique spot or piebald or something like that.

He would have to be over 180", have a lot of character in his antlers, and have a very good cape with no big battle scars. If it was an odd colored deer the antler size would not matter as much.

I don't think there's a set score- piebald, monster albino, 190" 8pt... a 200" 8pt would be mounted and a replica would go in a bank vault.

Second the deer would need to be unique in some way other than the rack. Unique fur coloration, interesting patterns or something similar.

There is actually a basket rack I saw this year that I'm hoping will survive long enough to be legal. He has the neatest almost chocolate colored fur.

You always have to be sure to figure ALL the hidden costs associated with something like that.
My wife already says any new mounts have to go in garage or I have to start culling mounts already in the living room.

I would never get a full body mount.

I think shoulder mounds are neat, but have no use for more than one or two, and have yet to shoot something I want to mount, knowing I will get better ones. I do euros on alot of my deer. A full body mount is just something to get in the way, If it was albino or pibald I would get the hide profesionaly tanned but that is about it.

Heck I'm going to go shoot 2 200"s this week, full body them both like they are fighting!!

Now that would be cool. Or a buck surrounded by a pack of yotes. I want everyone that walks in my living room to think they're in Bass Pro Shop.
