Anyone know any tips for Javelina hunting? I'm hunting an area and have seen their tracks and I mean a ton of tracks, scat and even found a nice skull. Can't seem to find them though. Are they nocturnal until it gets good and cold out? I've been hunting mainly in the evenings right before the sun goes down. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Put out some corn and wait for them to come in. Hunt them the same way you would deer in the mornings and evenings. They can also be fun to spot and stalk. Good luck!

I have seen them called in with a Johnny Stewart game caller years ago. It worked really well with a javelina in distress tape. They came and circled the jeep we were calling from, till it got too hot from that burning DuPont behind them 240 ge. hollow points in 44mag.
Bartender, bring me anything except brake fluid, cause I don't plan on stopping!

Find a 4 way sendero...run a line of corn down each one wait and enjoy....somethin that might just be dumb luck that iv done is if your bow hunting and see some down the run...jog down to them making noise and when they run in set up in range and wait...they usualy come right back...done it a few times..haha sounds dumb and gives the others hunters watchin a good laugh but it has worked

They can be called but I have never had them come in when I called blindly but have seen them and called them closer and had them scatter from the shot and call them back to me.

Put corn out or better yet a feeder, they'll be there.

They are totally diuranal. Everything I've been reading states that they are more diuranal during the winter and crepuscular during the summer. I've seen many trail cam pics of them at night.

why? they just show up, if they are eating your corn and you want to kill em, I guess do it, some people seem to think they are some kind of killer hog cause their teeth seem to make a scary noise...they are scared of people, you cant eat em unless you know how to doit right. they aint even a pig.

I haven't ever been that hungry... I ate some ONCE when I was young and we even ate armadillo’s, I can still remember the freaking nasty smell. I grew up in South Texas where we ate everything that didn't eat us first, we hunted to eat not for sport, but I'll never eat them or hunt them. You're so right they are not a pig!

Agree with most of what you said. Javis are blind, and I mean really blind. They distinguish shades, thats about it. The fear they instill is The noise they make is from the clapping of the lower/upper jaws to wart of enemies. Keen sense of smell and hearing. That is the only defense they really have. Can they inflict injury with the tusks, sure. If they find you I guess. They are to corn as stink is to They will find corn, pretty easily. Corn the senderos if no feeders get a ways back and watch out. Edible? not my favorite, then again I'm not to keen even on venison so I have no right to judge em.

Seen a bunch of sign everywhere but still no javelina's I guess they are still primarily nocturnal. I guess even more so with the full moon's last few days.
