I am looking for a left handed .22 for my son and daughter. I am thinking about the savage Mark II (I think). Anyone have one of these or have an opinion?

Think CZ makes a boltaction in Lefty. More expensive but haven't seen one yet that wasn't extremely accurate
lf the saying "Liar, Liar your pants on fire" were true Mainstream news might be fun to watch

You could always get a left handed stock and swap them.

You could always get a left handed stock and swap them. And the bolt handle will still be on the wrong side. I've got a Savage MK II lefty as my trainer rifle with a 4-16 x 40 mm MIL reticle scope and it's a great rifle. New in the box it was around $180 but I did have to order it. Savage makes something like 10 configurations of the MK II if you're right handed but only one configuration if you're left handed.

I have several left hand stocks with right hand action due to the lack of "lefty" rifle options. I guess they are not true left handed rifles.

Great choice for a kid...I've shot SouthPaw all of my life..Bandera Gun Club can order a new one for you and most Savages products shoot well, but have a low resell value..Excellent for first gun..DD

This helps me as well. A co-worker seeks a lefty .243 for his son.

A 243, 7-08, 25-06, 308, 22-250 all will work and may have a rifle they can use all of their lives...would only purchase one with at least 24 in bbl...due to pointability, and velocity, ect.
Remember, they do not stay small..and we usually hunt from blinds or stands with a rest...DD

Thanks to all. I think I'll get a .22 and another .243 or 25-06. I have a right handed youth model 70 .243 that my older son used. I think I will sell it and get the .22 for him to shoot right away. We can use it for squirrels later.
