JCB, the reply wasn't aimed at you,... just a general question. As for the government determining game animals it was a retorical (sp?) question, as in if the government says so, it is so.
We as a society have surrendered so many of our rights to the government, we almost have none as intended by the founders of this great nation.
This entire post is not to create controversy just to make us, as hunters, and Americans THINK.
Who decides what is best for our families? If, and yes this is reaching, if you had one bullet, your families well being at stake, would the 3 for 1 be an option, I realize in this day and age it is VERY far fetched
As hunters I do believe 99% of us are ethical, and obey laws put forth by our government.

Good statement.

Not to go off on beliefs and take this off topic too far, but I do tend to believe in reincarnation, and as I stated earlier in this thread, I do believe that in a past life I was a market hunter, or at least someone that really had to depend on what I could kill or catch to stay alive.

As you stated, in this day and age, it would be highly unlikely, but I can't keep from wondering what would happen to many of us should something happen to the worlds economy where life as we know it came to a sudden stop.

How many folks on here would be able to kill another person to defend their life or the lives of their families?

How many on here could fend for themselves and their families?

I have done many things during this life that as I look back on them that the choice I made in taking a shot on an animal or some birds, was not made with sportsmanship, ethics, and in a few cases legallities in mind.

I looked at them as a chance to get a bunch of meat with a minor expenditure of ammo.

Not to pick your statement apart, but the only place I really disagree with your assesment of hunters, I am much more of a pessimist than many people and having been an observer of human nature in hunting situations for 40 years, I place the number at 80% to 85% of hunters nationwide as being both ethical and legal.

I have seen a little too much in hunting camps and know too many folks that hunt.

As a close friend of mine stated one time, "There Is A Little Larceny In All Of Us."

A lot more folks than you believe, can and will skirt the law and ethics if they think they can pull it off and the situation is right.

It is sort of like How Many Drivers Obey ALL Speed Limits?

This has been a great topic, Merry Christmas to all.

I like this statement. I have seen many a heated disccusion on here over people breaking even the slightest hunting law, yet we break many other laws without even a second thought and its okay.

If it's only 3 with one shot you must not be using ENOUGH gun!!

Merry Christmas guys, let's remember the REASON for the season..

When I was coming up you had better get game with every shot or get your butt worn out so if you missed a running snowshoe hare with one shot you didn't hesitate to shoot two grouse off a limb with one shot to make up for it and if your average was better than fine. We hunt for other "reasons" now and I can afford ammo just fine but I remember being raised with a dad with no job and six brothers and sisters so that if you had meat you killed it or caught it. I can kill a running deer as easy as one standing still and if I needed to kill two with one shot I would and they would both be dead. I don't feel the need to do it now and you might be taking a unnecessary risk if you didn't have to do it but dang you people need to lighten up. And by the way, hogs are different and so are coyotes. I don't kill either one of them for food but because they compete with my food. . . deer. It is natural for one predator to try to eliminate the other. I would eat a small hog but the cardiologist said no pork. No he's not from PETA cause he told me deer meat is okay.

I work hard, drink a little and hunt when I can.

I looked, but here is 3 deer in one afternoon hunt in Georgia. It wasn't one shot it was 3 shots, but still one hunt. BTW in Georgia you are allowed 10 does and 2 bucks on a 7 day pass.

I looked because the last time I heard of three kills with one shot, a guy named Oswald was the triggerman

Got me too. I did shoot two gobblers with one shot this year, I didn't think it was unethical though.

Hunting is more to me than Antlers on the wall. It's more about the memories you make, and sharing those memories with friends, and family.
