Tonight between 5:00 pm and 6:30 pm: I saw 7 does, one very young 6 point buck. A covey of quail that came in to the feeder that looked like penguins, so fat their little wings just stuck out, two cardinals....oh yeah and a partridge in a pear tree!

Yes! A Weatherby does kill them deader.

The hunters saw more but this weekend just from the porch I saw over 100 turkey. Half a dozen deer (too far to tell what mostly does) 1 hawk, 1 armadillo, 1 llama (do they count?) All different kinds of birds, rabbits.
Mostly turkey around the house because the rancher is feeding corn, so too many sheep no deer. Evenings bring the turkey back to the roost and dove come in for water. Deer were all over the place this weekend, good at the blind as well.

Monday Evening - Erath County
HUGE buck, just inside the tree line, never turned my way. Two does following him, yes following him. Big spike following the does, 5 on one side 1 on the other, never got a shot, smaller spike following him, see "Finally on the Board" under pics thread. All within about 1.5 minutes.

I have hunted in my stand 16 times this year and I saw a 9 point for about 1.5 seconds, 4 point about the same 8 doe which I saw 7 of them in 1 day. Burleson county
Went to burnet at my buddies lease in 1 morning saw 3 8 pointers and 3 doe. Im ready to get a shot off. I do not have any doe tags so I will only get to shoot a spike or an AR buck (13”), getting pretty desperate at this point. I have Monday and Tuesday off this next week so I can go for 4 days and hoping to see something then.
I NEED A GOOD LEASE!
If I put my wife in a high fence will her rack get bigger?

Sometimes nothing. Been a really bad year in acorn country.
One interesting thing. A couple of weeks ago I was sitting on my wheat patch in the afternoon and watched a Siamese cat a little before dark.
Without a sense of urgency, nothing ever happens.

Zavala county
usually see between 15-30 deer, about half of those does and yearlings.
a slew of 3 1/2 year old bucks, some older, managment 8's.
if i'm lucky i get a glimpse of an axis walking thru the brush
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

Well out west ill hunt all day long and go back to the camper at dark. I usually see 20 to 30 deer a day. More bucks then does and tons of quail. More yotes then you could count and a occasional bobcat. Kent county

For the last three years that was exactly the same luck I had in Montague.
When I go to Bosque I have seen up to 7 in a morning. Maybe 1 to 3 in the afternoon.
I'll let you know how Anderson county is after my first hunt there this weekend. All I expect to see are hogs so a deer would be bonus and tasty.

Shackleford County:
AM or PM: 20-30 deer. 50% doe 50% small 8pts, spikes, older 8pts, occasional 10+pters. Not near the turkey as in the past. I have had them roost in the trees above my feeders. We have many a hog this year. I have killed 2 and saw 10+ under the feeder in mid morning.
Always activity....havent been shut out in over 3 years.
