Why are so many hunters feel the need to kill every fox and bobcat they see? I understand some might want to mount it or tanned hide but seems like alot of hunters on THF kill every one they see. I've always enjoyed watching them during the long hours on the stand. One stand I hunt over looks a fox den and over the past 10 yrs I've seen dozens of foxes and kittens. Foxes and bobcats are mice eating machines year round. I'll kill every yote, hog and rattlesnake I see but ya gotta leave some kritters to deal with the mice. It bothers me and does not help the hunter's image to kill every one seen. Just voicing my concerns and giving a little food for thought. Hunt safe,enjoy and be thankfull for all our great hunting.

In my case I had a fox that kept coming to the feeder pen and was running off all the deer and would not let another deer come into the feeder pen. It is the only one that I ever killed but it kept literally running off all the other wildlife.

My pens are 50ft by 50ft and nothing came in while the fox was in there.

I don't mind the foxes, it's not unusual to see them walk the treelines or lay in the hay around the calves where we feed hay. Bobcats can do a number on the fawn populations and they are a heck of a lot more stealthy than yotes ever throught about being.

When you loose about 20 chickens over a period of time, then all predators get shot. I will kill every dang thing I see that can eat a chicken. I don't care what it is.

I don't think the mice are overpopulating my areas so I'm not real concerned about them and I dont think that shooting a fox or not really has anything to do with image. What makes a coyote worth killing in your mind and not a cat?

I've watched foxes and deer eating corn alongside each other. I don't shoot foxes or bobcats. I enjoy watching them. To each his own.

Killing them is legal. End of story.

I enjoy watching them too. Called up three different cats last year that I didnt shoot only took pics and watched them but also called up several more and killed them, cause I can.

I don't typically shoot foxes....but bobcats do pose a serious threat against whitetail fawns (and there have also been a few cases of bobcats taking down a full-size doe).

In our case our rancher has goats and bobcats kill alot of them so he wants them gone.

I have shot 1 fox and had it tanned. Thats the only one I will kill. I don't shoot bobcats just because I like watching them. But again to each his own.

I don't begrudge anybody doing what's legal.As for me, I have killed one bobcat and one fox (to mount them) and won't ever kill any more.

For me it depends on where I'm hunting. I have access to a ranch close to me for varmint hunting, and they have goats and chickens so they want foxes, yotes, and cats killed. Otherwise, I generally just watch foxes and bobcats. No real reason other than personal preference.

This is almost not worth the time. If are really interested, do a little homework on predator depravation. My guess is that this is just another stir of the pot.

Foxes and bobcats both kill lambs and kids. They also take out young turkeys (adults in the case of bobcats). Bobcats also will take down fawns. If you don't want to hunt them fine. If you don't approve of hunting them you can .........

Bobcats are also quail eating machines. Coyotes don't have the negative impact most people think, the majority of what they eat is either dying or already dead. So, if you aren't going to shoot bobcats or foxes, you shouldn't really be shooting yotes either.

This is almost not worth my time. When you shoot a predator, for example a coyote, all you are doing is limiting competition and allowing female coyotes to have more offspring. Every study ever done on the subject has shown that it is virtually impossible to shoot enough coyotes to really have an impact on the over all population. Silly.

They make red cars they make blue cars, They make fast cars They make slow cars. Why is that? Because everyone is different. If you don't like a certain thing don't do it. But please, as a hunter, let's respect other hunters who are doing something legal. We keep playing in the anti's hands when we critize each other. Do your thing and I will do my thing. We are brothers of the hunt. Let's start acting like it. Thank you all for your time.

Neither foxes or bobcats are even remotely low in numbers in texas. I personally do not kill foxes because I have pictures of them with deer at my feeder and the deer weren't even remotely bothered, but my neighbor who has chickens does. A male fox wiped out 15 from his yard in 2 weeks after it built a den on my land. I congratulated him on a good kill.

There are real issues out there to worry about. People killing foxes and bobcats aren't one of them.

Do you have issues with people that shoot coons? If not, why?

I don't care personally what others decide to kill. To each their own. I'll kill a yote or hog on site but Bobcats or Foxes I could care less personally and wouldn't disturb my deer hunting area over one of those.

They are cool to watch though. One morning I watched a grey fox hopping or pouncing in the grass trying to catch mice. This was near my feeder and the does were there eating corn. The fox worked his way over near the feeder and the boss doe actually went over to the fox and they had a face off for about a minute. You don't get to see this kind of stuff every day. Really cool.

I don't blame predators for doing what God programmed them to do. IMHO.

You need to read more. Numerous studies have found that coyotes take a tremendous toll on fawn populations, with some studies finding an 80% mortality rate as a direct result of coyotes. Coyotes will also run a deer to the point of total exhaustion and take it down.

While it is true that coyotes feed on dead deer, mostly during the harsh winter months, their toll on young fawns is by far their worst impact on deer. And they are wise enough to sit and watch a feeder just to catch the chance at taking down a fawn.

Yep and this time of year "doe in heat" is one of my favorite bobcat lures at my sets.
