Was wondering if there waswas anyone hunting Mills co. off of fm 327?? We seem to have an issue a very poor doe to buck ratio on our property. It seems that everyone on our place has seen on average 5-6 buck for every doe. We have a lot of young 4's and 6's as well as some nice mature deer, bur were just not seeing any doe???? Anyone in the area having the same issue??

Well during the rut all the big bucks leave, they go else where to chase doe.

Same issue here but it's due to being mld3 and over the last 5 years they've focused on doe harvests an now I would guess our ratio at 4 bucks to one doe. This is my first year on the place and before season I was pumped because we had bucks everywhere. Now the rut has hit and there gone. I know they'll be back sooner or later though. By the way this is in evant.

No I'm off CR 237 and it's more like 10 doe / 1 buck ratio. It's been getting better but I think I'm the only one around who is working at harvesting more does than bucks. We took 8 does and 0 bucks last year. Although my neighbor took a nice buck I passed on. This year he told me he took a 5pnt which is exactly the buck AR restrictions are intended to protect.
I know of a ranch west of priddy on FM 218 that has your problem. The place is alwas over grazed by cattle and goats. Mainly goats, way to many. Goats and deer compete for the same browse. Does like to give birth in the same area each year. If there is nothing to keep them around they won't be there. And a little corn is not going to hold them there. Young bucks get run off from areas with high competition. High goat numbers also mean high predator numbers.
If it's your property you can make improvements. If it's a lease nothing you can do.

We are West of Goldthwaite and we have seen more bucks than does all season. Back in Sept. we saw about a 1:1 buck to doe ratio but since season has started, it is more like 4:1. On our place last weekend, smaller bucks were chasing and still saw plenty of middle aged bucks, 3-4 yr olds, still coming to the feeders with only a couple of does. Only saw a couple of mature deer paired up with a doe, but not a full out rut. We suspect that within the next 2 weeks we will see more does coming to feeders.

Anyone in the area having the same issue?? I am south of you on the Colorado. We have been managing our herd for some time. Early in the season we always see more young bucks than does. If the rut is heavy we will see the bigger bucks chasing does. Does will show up at the feeders in the back half of the season. If you start hunting does heavy at your feeders you will start to see fewer. My son and I shoot 3-4 does per year and half come hunting the roads in the truck. Our private roads that is.

We're over near Caradan and see plenty of does, year round. We're on about 400 acres and try and take 8 - 12 does per year. Probably go light this year, not seeing near as many first year deer running with the bigger does.
